Immediate News Release Week 7 Issue 7 Right to Bear Arms Monday, July 17, 2000
Lorge, NRA member, will vote for the "Right to Bear Arms"
Waunakee, WI - US Senate Candidate Bill Lorge, at a meeting with avid sportsmen and women today, reaffirmed his solid commitment to continue his A+ voting record that he earned as a ten year Wisconsin State Legislator fighting for the "Right to Bear Arms" if he is elected to the US Senate. Lorge, who is an NRA Member and has been endorsed by the NRA in all his past elections, is taking strong stands on issues relating to protecting the 2nd amendment. Lorge said he wants to make it clear, that when it comes to the "Right to Bear Arms" he may appear as if he is controlled by the NRA, but Lorge, who is known as a Maverick, voting his conscience and his District, says that, "it is an issue by issue matter, and if the overall picture is that I have a perfect 100% NRA record, that is an honor. It has always been an honor to be supported by my fellow SportsMen and Women who are fighters like me in defending our Rights. I am counting on the NRA's full support in my US Senate Primary election on September 12th," said Lorge. Lorge said, "First off, the Second Amendment to the US Constitution guarantees law-abiding individuals the right to keep and bear arms of their choice. I will fight to defend that right just like our soldiers fought to protect our freedoms." Lorge said that he is "on the side of those who know that if we would only enforce our existing gun laws we would solve most of the problems the other side is concerned about. We don't need to make it harder on law-abiding citizens who own firearms, we need to focus on the hard core abusers." For example, Lorge is also very concerned about the federal attitude towards registration and licensing. Lorge is one of the leading advocates on people's rights to privacy and against excessive government abuse such as registration or licensing of anything, especially firearms. This includes federal background checks on innocent gun owners which Lorge opposes. Lorge says there is also a growing movement to interfere in free commerce for firearms, that philosophically Lorge opposes like he would any product. "The Government does the worst job of anyone in anything, we must keep them out of the business of designing products. Let the consumers decide that. I support safety, and making our lives better, but when it comes to mandating designs for firearms for private use, there is no role for Government here," said Lorge. Lorge is an outspoken critic against licensing firearms, as a gun owner himself, he is very concerned that no government ever be allowed to do this. Lorge was in Europe and the USSR as a student studying Nazism, Fascism, Totalitarianism, Communism and other isms that don't work, but Lorge knows that this ism could only happen in America if we don't take heed and fight to protect our 2nd Amendment rights. "Criminals dont obey the laws we have now, why would they obey any new ones?", said Lorge. Lorge said he is very concerned about the growing violence in America and suggests that, "we work hard where the real problems lie such as violent video games or bad parenting, rather than wasting precious time fighting our second amendment rights." Lorge, who is known as a Maverick for the People, said that people who want to learn more about his support for the "Right to Bear Arms" and other issues, can log onto his web page at: www.hometown.aol.com/Lorge2000 and follow the links to his Issues pages. "I am honored to be running for the US Senate. I am really in my element. I am in the prime of my life. Never felt better, smarter, more energetic and more improved. It's Like: BILL LORGE - THE NEWEST MOST IMPROVED CANDIDATE. I am the Youngest Candidate. I have the longest record. I have a Young Family. I have the longest running Political name in Wisconsin, over 50 years now since my father was first in Politics. People look me in the eye and they tell me they know I will do it, they trust me and they want me to win. I have to win it for them. I am enjoying everyday of this campaign. I can do this everyday until November 7th, but I have to win on September 12th and this is our focus right now," said Lorge.
