The Fisher House is the caretaker's residence of the Fisher (Body by Fisher of General Motors fame) Estate. Although the main home was destroyed by fire many years ag o, the caretaker's home and many outbuildings remain. Important guests, including President Eisenhower, were once entertained here.
This spacious four bedroom, 3,000-square-foot rental, has central heat, living room, dining room, and fully equipped kitchen. It will accommodate eight persons very comfortably.
Thousand Island Lake is a sandy 1,000-acre spring fed lake. We have 850 feet of shoreline and one of the most spectacular views of the lake and its islands. Deer, foxes, ducks, and bald eagles live on the property. Wild flowers and wild berries abound.
The property rental includes use of a 14-foot aluminum boat, wet boathouse, large Finnish sauna, half basketball court, picnic table, outdoor furniture, and Weber grill. Bed linens are provided. The home features fresh paint inside and out, new first floor carpeting, gas log fireplace, color television, and microwave.
The Fisher House is available for rent year round, by the week in the summer and by the week or weekend in the winter. The 2007 summer rate is $1,400 per week, for a maximum of 10 persons, plus Michigan tax. Call for winter rates. Sorry, no pets. Please, we prefer no personal watercraft.
