Straight-ear or Perk-ear Scottish Folds have the same look and temperament as the folded ear Scottish Folds with the only difference being that the Straight-ears do not carry the gene that makes the ears fold down. Proper breeding (for good health) means a breeder must breed a Scottish Fold with another "normal" eared cat such as the American SH, British SH or the Straight-ear Fold, thus a litter will contain both kittens with folded ears and kittens with straight ears. Besides making wonderful and less expensive pets, the Straight-ear Fold is invaluable to the breeding program.
