PLACES OF INTEREST TO VISIT WHILE IN MYANMAR (BURMA)
The Capital, Yangon (Rangoon) - The centre of the country's administration and economy. This is a busy and noisy city, just about anything and everything can be purchased here, check out the night clubs if you are young or young at heart.

Shwedagone Pagoda
Mandalay. Myanmar's second largest city which was founded in 1857 by King Mindon, one of the last Burmese Kings. It was the Burmese Kingdoms last capital before collapsing to the British in 1885.
Maymyo (Pyin-Oo-Lwin) - This town was named after British General May, who combined his name with Myo which means 'town'. Maymyo is some 60Kms from Mandalay and with an elevation of 800 metres, it is famous for fresh fruit (especially strawberries) and its golf courses.
Moulmein (Mawlamyine), An important part of the Gulf of Martaban and chief town of British Burma.
Pagan (Bagan). 425 miles (680 Kms) north of Yangon (Rangoon) is the most important architectural complex in Myanmar (Burma) with over 2000 temples, pagodas, stupas and shrines.
Mogok - Better known as 'Ruby Land' as this is where the World's best rubies are located. Myanmar (Burma) is famous for its gemstones, especially rubies, sapphires and jade. Mogok is situated in upper Myanmar (Burma) north of Mandalay and is the main centre of ruby and sapphire mining, this town has produced the best gemstones for the past 800 years.
Kalaw - Situated 70 Kms west of Taunggyi, the capital of the Shan States and is 1320 meters above sea level with pleasantly cool weather and rugged mountain scenery.
Tavoy (Dawei). In southern Myanmar (Burma) and lies at the head of the tavoy river estuary on the Andaman Sea, this area is the main source of Myanmar's tin and tungsten deposits.
