More Information on Pilatus P3 "A-848"
The Pilatus P-3 was built by Pilatus in Switzerland from 1953 to 1959. At the time, it was competing with the Beechcraft T-34 for an order with the Swiss Air Force. The P-3 is built heavier than the T-34, but it has a lower climb rate and cruise speed. The maximum speed of the P-3 is signficantly higher than for the T-34 due to the stronger airframe.

Most P-3s have between 3000 and 4000 hours of total flying time due to the relatively low utilization compared to the T-34. There are approximately 20 P-3s flying in the US and many flying in Europe. Several planes have been re-engined with more powerful engines. The P-3 is registered in the US as an "Experimental Exhibition" aircraft.
