Here is an UPDATE on Champ's situation. PLEASE watch for this dog. He could show up ANYWHERE!!!

This poor family was at a baseball practice. Mom went to take child to the bathroom, left Champ in the Pickup with the window rolled far enough down for air. She was gone, just a few minutes. Someone, and we know who the someone is, took the dog out of the truck and took him home with her. Apparently, she had lost her own boxer to old age, saw Champ and decided she wanted him for herself. She has actually told someone this.

The family was frantically looking for Champ for days. One of the parents from a baseball team called, let them know who took Champ, so the coach gave over the info. She calls the thief on Friday. The thief was rude, said she couldn't be bothered until Saturday and to call her then. She calls back on Saturday and amazingly, the dog got loose on Friday night and has not been seen since.

The police are DEEPLY involved in this. Even if the dog is no longer there, they are arresting her on charges of HARBORING the dog for three days and not calling authorities. Remember this when you find a STRAY. You too could be charged with harboring if you do not contact authorities and make every attempt to locate the owners. A found dog is not a dog that we can keep for ourselves or take into our rescues. It is a "stray" or "lost" dog until every attempt to find the owners had been exhausted. It's the LAW.

This story takes many bizarre twists and turns. The thief is now saying the dog was malnourished and covered with cigarette burns and that is why she took him, but recent pictures of Champ prove otherwise. We do not know if she still has Champ, has given the dog to relatives or friends hoping this will blow over, or if she let Champ go and he's running loose. PLEASE take the time to at least go to their website and look at Champ. He could end up in ANY shelter, rescue, neighborhood etc in the country. We have no idea where he is at this moment.
