UPDATE: MORGAN HAS FOUND HER FOREVER HOME WITH HER FOSTER FAMILY!!!
Morgan is a 4 yr old adult flashy fawn female with natural ears and cropped tail..
A few years ago she was hit by a car and seriously injured. She had a broken hip,
some spinal damage, and damage to her vision. She was not taken in for veterinary
care, so her hip and everything else healed like it was. It doesn't seem to bother her,
she just walks with a funny gait periodically. She does have some rear end weakness
that seems to show up on slippery floors. When she's outside, she can run like the
wind and you'd NEVER know she had any problems at all. She just kicks one hind leg
out every now and then when she's tearing around the yard. She has been diagnosed
with Spondylosis at L-7 to S-1. This would account for the occasional weakness. She
is currently on Prednisone to reduce inflammation.
Initially we were told that she was mostly blind. We have found that she
actually has fairly good vision. She can follow your fingers, her pupils dilate, she
runs to the window to see one of us drive away etc. The only time we've noticed
anything is when she bumped her nose on the glass front door. She also seems to
have trouble deciding how far away things are. So we believe she has an issue
with depth perception. It does not effect her running around the yard or playing in
the house. We don't know if this too is a result of the accident or not, but we think it is.
She is very sweet, quite small, has learned to adapt to her disabilities and
gets around just fine. She is incredibly THIN right now and desperately needs to put
some weight on. Her waist is so tiny you'd think it could just break in half.
You can see every bone in his spine, ribs, hips etc. I tried to capture it in pictures,
but there is no way to really see how thin this girl is unless it is in person. We are working
hard at putting weight on. Her pink "bling" collar is so big, you can see where she used to wear
it at one time, so this weight loss is relatively new. Her family did fall on extremely hard times
and that is why she was surrendered. It was certainly in her best interest.
Morgan needs a home that will just simply LOVE her. She is a gentle, sweet
soul, that loves to tuck her muzzle into your neck or between your arm and body
and just nuzzle you. Her eyes are soulful and loving. She is so grateful for every
ounce of love and care. She is an easy going girl that just needs a low key household.
She'd be a great dog to take to work with you or just hang out with you at home. She
is house trained, crate trained and walks nicely on a leash. She is gentle with children
and playful with other dogs, although she shouldn't be roughhousing with other dogs.
Maybe a home with a dog that is similar in activity level would be best.
Morgan will be available for adoption after April 23rd. We have access to xrays
and veterinary records for anyone that is interested in learning more about her. Her
adoption donation will be $175.00.
