Brie

UPDATE: 6-26-08 BRIE IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP. Her story is on our home page.

UPDATE: 4-10-08
Brie is doing so well. She appears to bond quickly and very hard to the male humans in the house. She is living with two male dogs, but comes to life when a female dog comes to visit. She was penned with females until coming into rescue, so I suppose that would be natural that she'd feel an instant bond with them. She's fine with any dogs, but seems to do better with dogs that are a little more low key. The typical craziness of boxers can be too much for Brie.

Brie's foster family reports that she is ready to move on to her Forever Home. Her new family will have to remain consistant with the potty training routine she already knows. She is perfectly crate trained, but is content to sneak on up to where the family is hanging out and spending time with them. She would do great with an active family that likes to go for walks or runs. It seems to calm her anxiety when she's had a good run or spent time at the dog park.

Brie will be available after April 18th. Her adoption donation is $275.00 _______________________________________________________________________

UPDATE: 3-15-08
Since Brie has been in her foster home, she has made steady progress. When working with this kind of dog, it can sometimes seem like they are not progressing at all, but then you step back and look at the big picture. This was a dog that just hid in corners, under furniture, in the kennel, under the deck etc, or ran wildly around the yard in a panic if she were outside. Just the other day I saw her foster family riding by on the bicycles and Brie was trotting alongside on a leash just like any other boxer would do. I know it has helped that she has a very emotionally stable male to help teach her how to come out of her shell. BUT, we've discussed whether or not Brie would be better off as an only dog. She seems to bond to animals more than people, so perhaps, she would be better off as an only, then she'd HAVE to bond with her humans. Canines have to be part of a pack, so she'd naturally desire to do so with her family.

Despite her fears, she is so sweet and seems to have a special fondness for men. I'll continue to update her progress report as her training continues. We have adopted out dogs from similar situations, so if you have any questions about what to expect, please contact us. ______________________________________________________________________

Brie is a gorgeous flashy fawn female with natural ears and a cropped tail. She is one and half years old, very gentle and very sweet. She comes from a breeding operation where she did not receive much socialization, so she was extremely timid when she first came into rescue. She is now making great strides in her foster home. She is learning to walk on a leash and the basic obedience commands. She is TOO crate trained and will use it as a hiding place, but it is still a necessary tool for house training.

Brie never lived in a house before coming to rescue, so she had much to learn. She didn't know how to play with toys or play with other dogs for that matter. She just ran around in circles in the yard like a wild animal. In the house she would slink around until she could find hiding spot. She truly has made remarkable gains. She is very intelligent, loves children and likes every dog she's met so far. She is currently fostering with cats, so we'll see how that progresses. So far so good. Brie has come along nicely and will be ready for her adoptive home shortly.

Onyx and Archie

UPDATE: ONYX HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!!!!!! :o) ARCHIE HAS BEEEN ADOPTED!!!!!! I knew these two wouldn't last long in rescue. The sad thing is, Archie has a medical condition that has OBVIOUSLY been going untreated for some time. Thankfully, they both now have families that will provide proper vet care for them. Our contracts require it, and we do expect when our contract is signed that it will be abided by. You remain liable for all expenses incurred to bring them up to date on vaccinations and tests for current illnesses, plus medications.even when we have to confiscate them. If we have to get our attorney involved then legal costs will be added to the total cost. So please do not adopt, unless you plan on providing a lifetime home, proper vetting and care. It's not THAT much to ask.

Onyx is a GORGEOUS 3 1/2 year old reverse brindle female with natural ears and a cropped tail. She's not a very big girl, but she does have a very nice muscular build. She is very house trained, crate trained and does well on a leash. She knows most basic commands. She is excellent with other dogs and ADORES children of all ages. She is not too exuberant for even younger children.

Onyx lost her home through NO fault of her own. She was there with her buddy Archie that is also available for adoption. They are a bonded pair, but we are not requiring that they are adopted together. They are living in separate foster homes now and have immediately adapted to the dogs, children and moms and dads. They're doing just fine and will easily bond with their FOREVER FAMILY. Since these two have been adopted out of our rescue before, we will take NO chances that they are uprooted again. Please do not apply for either dog unless you plan to make a committment for the life of the dog.

Onyx is an easy dog to have in the home. She has no problems that we know of, but she will need to be brought up to date on her vaccinations, have a heartworm test and start heartworm preventative. As soon as her vetting is complete, she will be available for adoption. We do not want her to spend any more time in foster than is absolutely necessary, and since we know this dog very well, we will not require that she stay through our typical three week minimum assessment time. Please read our adoption requirements before applying. The same applies for Archie.

Archie is a handsome reverse brindle male with gorgeous amber eyes. He is a gentle soul, that is content to lie on the couch with you, or hang out with you in the car. He'd be a wonderful camping companion, or work buddy. He'd also do great in a family with children and other dogs. He is house, crate and leash trained. He gets along with other dogs, LOVES kids and is just an all around wonderful dog. How anyone could give up either dog is unbelievable.

We will update with pictures and additional information on these two once they are properly vetted. You must submit an application before we will discuss any of our dogs. Onyx's adopt donation is 250.00. Archie's is 175.00
