NWO: Large Load of BS
All right, here's the page where I scream my heart out (in a figurative sense that is) to all and sundry... or at least all who wish to listen.  Now, there are several things that piss me off inordinately.  One is little brothers... I have one, much to my annoyance at times.  Another is people who go up to other people and hit them for no apparent reason, then walk off--and another is the people who allow this to happen by not punishing those in question.  But those are all for later.  What *really* bugs me are those people called fanatics... those guys who think they are entirely justified in blowing up large numbers of innocents, or others who are not so far down the road of intolerance and divine justification but are no less devoted to their cause.

Chief among these two kinds of people are those idiots who think they are "martyrs" just because they died for some violent religious cause.  The people who put the "martyr" idea in those guys' heads, though (which there invariably are), not only annoy me in a large way, but scare the hell out of me for their charisma and the way people accept their ideas.  Osama bin Laden leaps prominently to mind.  Very prominently.  No more need me said on the matter, he is so deplorable as to not even deserve my descriptions of him.  And yet, there are those who are less evil but no less intolerant/fanatical/twisted than he-- you can find exactly who I'm talking about at www.cuttingedge.org if you want background (or if you want a reason to be nauseous).  The whole thing reads like a gigantic tabloid, it's just sickening...

You may have heard the words "New World Order", you may even know what people refer to these days when they use the phrase.  Or you may not.  If you don't, it's pretty simple to explain...

The New World Order is a conspiracy theory masterminded by far-right-wing Christian fanatics--yeah, the same guys who go around preaching against the dangers of exposing your children to the dangers of Harry Potter on the grounds that it conditions them to be able to accept Satanism.  That in itself would make an extremely lengthy rant, but I'm not touching it for the time being.  No, what I'm ranting about is the very idea.  These people, who call themselves "good Christians" immerse themselves in intolerance and go around pointing accusatory fingers at everyone in sight who is not completely accepting of their ideas--even other people who are faithful Christians (whatever happened to "Love thy neighbor"?).  The basic premise is that the governments of the world are on their way to joining and becoming one gigantic nation.  This in itself is far-fetched, human nature being what it is--intolerant.  Anyway, everything happening in the world today (and a great deal of yesterday) is squeezed to fit into the context of this theory--the EU, OPEC... every alliance of nations, whether literally joined or no.  The real whizbang, though, comes now... these crazed people say that the theoretical giant nation will be headed by the Antichrist, who will kill all people of Christian faith, and brand the rest with the "Mark of the Beast" on their foreheads--such a mark will send them all packing to hell, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

How do they defend their idea?  Well, these people are so brazen as to take everyday information, innocuous-looking tidbits, and twist it with lengthy explanations into something promoting witchcraft, the Devil, the Antichrist, Satanism, or the aforementioned World Order itsef.  Example: The Dollar Bill.  These folks seem to think that the U.S. is a firm supporter of the NWO--listen to their explanation:  On the back, it has a picture of a pyramid with an eye in it, under which are the words "NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM", a Latin phrase which they loosely translate as "New World Order", but which is accurately translated (for the record) as "New Order of the Ages".  They say that the pyramid with the "occultic" eye at the top represents the worship of Satan, and they don't even give that an explanation.  Nothing is safe from their diagnosis--the year 1776, even, the year that the American Revolution really began.  These crazies claim that its real significance is that the Illuminati, a shady sort of secret society bent on destroying government and religion, was founded on May 1st of that year.  They even bring May Day into the mix, saying that it's a celebration of the Illuminati, practiced by Communist nations.  Apparently they hate communists too.

People, world leaders, are being labeled Satanists just because they decided it'd be a good idea to ally with another country, preventing a great deal of the risk of war and other nasty things.  Even Bush Junior, little Dubya the faithful Christian from the oil fields of Texas, is getting this thrown at him.  Apparently, Satan being the Great Deceiver, supporters of the New World Order can appear to be good people doing good things--just never people with the intolerance, close-mindedness and fanatical Christianity of the conspiracy theorists.  Coming to think of it, their attitude is called "provincial"--which has a correlation to being backward and uneducated in an informed and forward world.  Anyone with a little open-mindedness can expect to be labeled Satanist, if they are by chance brought to the attention of the conspiracy theorists.

Now, I myself think that all this is a gigantic load of bullshit.  And yet the conspiracy is gaining popularity among those less willing to do a bit of research.  These people swallow their explanations and twisted logic whole, and the intolerance and fear is spread to others.  This theory scares the hell out of me for certain, but not because of the ideas it espouses--no, it's just that the educated people who give money to Osama bin Laden and his cronies were taken in by explanations and illogic very, very similar to this.  People like the fellows who flew the planes I don't worry about--call somebody an infidel (or a Satanist, depending on the context) and those fellows fly at him (ugh, bad word) in a righteous rage.  No, it's the intelligent people who worry me--the people of influence who are taken in by this drivel and decide to send money to the leaders of the conspiracy theorists.  Soon enough one of them is going to take a liking to the idea of a crusade, and people are going to be killed on the pretext of preventing the "New World Order" from congealing.  This kind of thing disgusts me... one of my close friends discovered the sites that promote the theory, and now he feels sorry for me for my apparent inability to see the "truth".  Oh, I see the truth, all right.  And it makes me nauseous.
