December 11 began as a sunny "blue-sky" day, a toasty 40 degrees. I'd set up my computer on the picnic table for some quick scans of a white poinsettia around eleven AM. But ...I'd gotten side-tracked after spotting an oothica, red winter berries and a few springs of silvery artemisia amongst the dried brown stalks. I didn't get to the poinsettia at all... around 1 pm a blanket of puffy white clouds rolled in making for an unsightly streaky background. Within moments I was scrambling with frozen fingers as it began to sleet! Ah, the unpredictable New England weather!
