New News: July 12 2006

Gentleman of the Company!  It has been quite sometime since our latest update, nearly over a year.  I apologize for my delay on updates to anyone who keeps a constant eye on this page.

I am working on updating this site over the new few months, even considering a .com site to enhance things for the Company Page.  Also, the newly updated events list will be in full swing as the season for 2006 is well underway!

1st Manassas is set for July 21-23 and is a MAX effort Division and Regiment event.  The 5th did not vote on this for max effort, but is still being represented for our 1st Sgt. Chopper and other privates from 1st Squad.  We hope that they represent the company with the professionalism and esteem that has been upheld by this unit over the past years.

The unit itself is now well over five years old, so to all of those members who helped get this unit off the ground and helped maintain it, we salute you all!

For further information, contact our Lt. Adj Royce Yoho about event plans and dues that are needed for this season.  Also, recruit! recruit! recruit!  We need to beef our numbers up, I'll be updating the roster as soon as I can get to it.

For now, remain safe, and 1st and 2nd squad of the Regiment will be drilling soon at the Averasboro Battlefield in August.

Registration and events
Registration:
To register with the unit you must contact one of the two men listed below.  They will ask for a $20 fee to join and give you an application to be placed on file. Half of the money goes to the unit funds and the other half goes to insurance companies that support the organizations. (Since we take a risk everytime we go out on the field!)

Thoughts of a Cpl:
For those who want to re-enact with us or a different unit that is fine. I welcome the person who wants to take part in re-creating history and honoring those who have gone before us. I enjoy the thrill of battles and the friendships that will last a lifetime around the campfire. Also I enjoy teaching young children and adults, who come to learn, enjoy and appreciate what we do. Re-enacting is one of the largest hobbies in the world, with more than 500,000 alone in the US taking part in it.  The hobby has reached extreme levels and heights as more and more people take interest every day in the War for Southern Independence.  Let us not forget those who gave their lives for what they felt was right.  Those who had to endure the pain and suffering of losing a loved one or even witnessing the horror that came with this destructive war.  This war and hobby brings us closer together as a nation and as Americans, united in the past and present.  God bless you all...

Sincerely,
Cpl. Brandon
