Co. C 5th NC formed nearly three years ago in Fayetteville, NC. With the desire to
create an organization that was dedicated to the preservation of civil war history in
America. The organization aligned itself with the 1st NC Battalion and serves under
the 1st Division Army of Northern VA. This unit is comprised of men mainly in the
Fayetteville region, but has roots in the Northeast, West, and South. Led by Capt.
Don Brown, the unit grew from a struggling probationary unit to one of the largest field
companies in the 1st NC Battalion. Highly respected and trained, the unit travels all
across America in the hopes of educating the public and the men who serve in it's
ranks. They have the distinct honors of dedicating the 1st NC monument at South
Mountain and have been one of the key historical units in films such as, Gods and
Generals and Glory.. Co. C 5th NC strives for authenticity
and historical accuracy in each and every aspect of re-enacting.
This unit is highly active in not only national preservation but takes great pride in
preserving the historical lands of North Carolina. Adopting Averasboro National
Battlefield in the Spring of 2002 as their base of operations for Winter Encampment,
the 5th takes time for cleanup, living histoy presentations, and revitilization of the area.
Stretching from the Appalachians to the outer banks, the 5th makes it's presence
known. Backed by two chapters of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the 5th has
become a forefront unit in the fight to save history.

they are surely to rise and let us remember..."
