The Area
This is an area steeped in history with pretty, unspoilt villages and towns. Beautiful, medieval Monflanquin is just 4 kms away. It receives numerous deserved accolades as one of the loveliest of all the bastides. From its commanding vantage point it has far reaching panoramic views across surrounding countryside and has much to offer, including a bustling market in summer, good shops and some superb eating places.
Villereal (7kms) too, is a bastide with character, with its wonderful covered 'halle', where the market is held. Sample local produce and wines and soak up the atmosphere. In fact there are so many wonderful local markets in the area you could visit a different one every day!
The whole area is a rich tapestry of chateaux, architecture, cuisine, wine tasting, walking, cycling, golf, fishing, horse riding, tennis and much more. We can supply you with a full and comprehensive list of sights, attractions and recommendations, should you have the energy in all that sunshine!
Villeneuve sur Lot to the south and Bergerac to the north, on the banks of the Dordogne are both a comfortable 30 minutes away. With the Dordogne on your doorstep you have an even wider choice of places and activities to explore, including Sarlat, one of France's most attractive medieval towns, with its lively market and street life. You can also take a step back into pre- history and marvel at the cave paintings at Lascaux and the grottes at Les Eyzies. The area also offers rock climbing and canoeing.
