At the heart of the book is a romance between prontagonist Jennie Gravatt and her Atlantis lover Raimone, whom she seeks but does not find in a series of failed relationships. Bennett uses these unsuccessful, often abusive relationships, to raise awareness of gender equity throughout history.

Bennett is dreaming up her next book now, based on the true story of another relative, Duane Nielsen, a Conneaut Ohio native who was killed in a flight training accident in 1957. With a working title of FINAL MISSION: Naval Avaition Cadet Duane Herbert Nielsen, the story begins at Nielsen's funeral and regresses through his life--or lives, as the case may be. Bennett said she has been able to work the same themes from JENNIE'S REPRISAL of reincarnation and gender equity into her second book.

Listening to Bennett spin fascinating tales of everyday events tells you she is a born storyteller.

Like a lot of people these days, Carol Bennett has changed careers. But to hear her talk, that's nothing compared to the lives she led before. The former NASA scientist took an early retirement from a run-of-the-mill job in space travel to devote herself to something equally ordinary -- time travel. Now she's the author of a book about the journey, JENNIE'S REPRISAL. It's the story of a woman she never met, yet knows intimately -- her great-aunt Jennie Gravatt, who lived from 1897 to 1926. The tale about reincarnation, spiritual awakening, and New Age fulfillment is a far cry from her previous life as a GS-15 NASA communications specialist. "I have gone from outer space to inner space, from the fast track onto my spiritual path," Ms. Bennett said from her home along Almshouse Creek.
