This page has been created to bring all people suffering with Polycystic Kidney Disease ("PKD") together! Together we can make a difference in the battle to find a cure and/or treatment for PKD!

My Public Awareness Efforts
For several years I traveled over 40,000 miles across the country, with my dog Max, in my motorhome working to spread public awareness for PKD, the "Silent Killer." At first we did it on our own but later Coachmen RV, KOA Kampgrounds and others sponsored our USA Media Tour where we reached millions telling them about PKD!
I AM HAPPY TO SAY WE ARE REACHING MANY PEOPLE WITH PKD:
March 99: Featured in Jane Magazine;
Sept. 99: Featured in First for Women Magazine ;
March 99: (Austin, Tx) ABC Morning Daybreak (3:20 min)
April 99: Houston, Tx) ABC 5:00 Eyewitness News (3:00 min)
May 20, 99 (Beaumont, Tx) ABC Healthcheck; 5:00 News (1:30 min)
May 21, 99 (Beaumont, Tx) 2nd Spot on ABC " 5:00 News" (2:35 min)
August 99 Wrote story for book entitled Fortitude: True Stories of True Grit
Scheduled for publication: Oct./Nov. 2000. (Look for it!)
Nov. 99 Met BB King asking him to record a Public Service Announcement;
Nov. 99: Made contacts helping present story idea to Paramount for a
Made-for-TV movie. Hope they come through!;
Dec. 99: Full Page article published in San Diego Blue's Lover's paper;
Sept. 2001: Feature Story in Family Circle Magazine (5 million readers!)
* Due to 100's of media hits obtained on the PKD Road Warrior Tour - could not list them all. From October 2000 to June 2001 we traveled 10,000 miles on the "PKD ROAD WARRIOR USA MEDIA TOUR". Over 130 media hits in TV, Newspaper & Magazines, etc. helped reach over 34 MILLION and may help make "PKD" a "household name."
Pledges "per mile we drove" also helped raise money for research to bring us closer to the cure...Hopefully, you saw our story in Family Circle in Oct. 2001 which reached another 5 MILLION!
MANY WITH PKD ARE NO LONGER SUFFERING ALONE.....

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP!
1) Call the Polycystic Kidney Research Foundation at 1-800-PKD-CURE or go to (www.pkdcure.org) today and join and/or make a "tax deductible" contribution! Scientists are close to a treatment or cure but they need your dollars to further their research!
2) Write your Representatives in Congress today and ask them to help get funding increased for PKD. Ask your friends and families to do the same. If you do not know who to write go to the PKD website (www.pkdcure.org) "Action Alert" and just enter your zip code. It is that easy and letters are desperately needed!
3) Think of ways you can help raise money and/or awareness and make it happen! You can call the Foundation to provide you with brochures, etc. for your events.
4) Since PKD is hereditary obtaining a transplant from a family member is complicated and/or impossible. Encourage people to become organ donors so that those with PKD that need kidneys will not have to wait. The Glenn Foley Wings for PKD Foundation needs help distributing "donor cards" (see link below). If you know of places that will put the cards on their counters and/or if you do PKD fund raisers please contact them at (wings4PKD@aol.com).
