ROCKFORD RAMS GOLF - 2006
8/15 - KENT COUNT INV. - L.E. KAUFMAN - 4th
Rams take fourth overall in field of 27 teams with 322. FHC 311, GRCC 312 and Grville 320 led the way. Alex led the Rams with 77, Matt 80, Jackson 82 and Brandon's 83 were the scores of the day. Scott had 85. Kaufman played tough at 6800 yards with the breeze up in the afternoon.
8/16 - WILSON CLASSIC - GRACEWIL - 1st
Rams are "Champions" with fine 303 on the day. Jackson goes 39/33 for 72 and medalist honors, Alex 75, Matt 77, frosh Trent 79 and Adam & Brandon 80. Next was West Catholic with 312. All of the Rams earned medals for top 20. Highlight of the day was Jackson's and Brandon's eagles on #10.
8/17 - LOWELL INV. - DEER RUN - 2nd
Alex takes medalist at 74, Scott/Adam are 76 in bestball and Matt/Trent are 70 in scramble for 305 total. Grand Ledge is 298 to win. Oh and Jackson shot 85.
8/18 - TC INVITE - MISTWOOD - 11th
Jackson wins comeback award with 73 to medal. Team shoots 313 in a great field of teams. Brandon 79, Matt 80, Trent 81 and Alex 84 rounded out the day. Who won at Pirate's Cove again......
8/18 - SPARTA INV - CEDAR CHASE - 2nd
B team loses by one stroke to Cedar Spring with total of 334 Clint's 78, Sam 80 and Tyler Gray's 84 led the scoring.
8/21 - EAST LANSING INV. - FOREST AKERS - EAST & WEST
Respectable 309 with Jackson 73, Alex 74, Matt 80, Scott & Adam 82. Good for 5th in the morning for those teams on the east course.
Long 6800 yards on the west and the feet got a little weary in 341 score for the afternoon. Alex 81, Jackson 83, Adam 88 and Matt 89 led the Rams.
8/21 - NORTHPOINTE CHRISTIAN INV - RAILSIDE - 7th
Finishing 7th/14 the Rams were led by Sam with 79, Clint 80, Trent 85 and Kyle Jezak's 86 in a total score of 330.
8/23 - PRESEASON CONFERENCE - THORNAPPLE PT - 1st
RAMS WIN PRESEASON CONFERENCE WITH 310 SCORE
With 5 scores under 80, the Rams outdistance the field by 15 strokes and take first. This meet counts as 1/3 of the season. Three 77's were medalist - Alex, Jackson and Matt..others in the top five were TWO FRESHMAN Trent Davison and Sam Gallup. Adam had 83. This was most likely the first time a Rockford varsity golf team ever used a sophomore and two freshmen in the lineup - but the guys kept the ball in play, putted well and enjoyed Culver's on the coach. Like coach says it is all about potential....we have it......go Rams
8/26 - 7TH ANNUAL RAMS TEE OFF CLASSIC - N K - 3rd
Rams Orange team finishes 3rd with 312 score behind Ludington-304 and Grandville-309. Scores were Alex with 73, Jackson 78, Sam 79 and Matt 82. The White team finished with 323 for 8th place led by Scott's 77 , Adam's 79, Clint's 83 and Kyle's 84. 24 teams participated so it was a good showing again by the Rams.............
8/29 - CEDAR SPRINGS SCRIMMAGE @ CEDAR
Rams shoot 155 to Cedars 177 as Alex shoots 35, Matt 39, Sam 40 and Jackson 44 to lead the way. Ben Brooks shoots 34 for Cedar eagling #9.
8/31 - FREMONT INVITE @ BRIAR HILL - T2nd
Rams shoot 334 and tie for second but lose tiebreaker on fifth score. Clint and Trent go 77 for medals with Clint a double on the last hole and Trent an eagle on a par 4.
8/31 - GREENVILLE INVITE @ GLENKERRY - 1st
Another great day in the history of Rockford golf with the team going 298 with Alex 72, Matt 73, Jackson 75, Scott 78 and Adam 79. The team beat out fine teams fron FHC (303) and Grand Ledge (306). Alex lost in a playoff on #8 to Drew Preston from FHC. Wow 298 - a dream to behold..go Rams
9/7 - WEST OTTAWA @ PIGEON CREEK 0-1
Rams 1st conference 9 hole match turns out to be a 152 - 161 loss with the 3-6 men of WO all under 40 at PC in the wind. The Rams were no match for this onslaught with Alex 39, Matt and Trent 40, Scott 42 and Jackson and Adam at 43. Wake up call for nine hole play - team must figure out a way to be ready to play and work on fairways, greens and pars - especially in the scoring game from 100 yards and in.........
9/8 - LAKEVIEW INVITE - BIRCHWOOD - "A" 1st "B" 3rd
Three 9 hole matches - matchplay
Great day at matchplay again with 'A' team winning the championship with 45 points and 4 players winning their respective brackets consisting of 3 nine hole matches. Winners were Jackson, Matt, Scott and Sam. Alex and Trent won 2.
The 'B' squad finished 3rd with 31 points. Winning 2 matches were Brandon, Clint, Adam, Andrew Smith and Gabe VanderJagt from the JV A squad. Kyle also earned 5 pts for the team.
9/9 - ALMA INVITE - PINE RIVER - 313 - 2nd
Jackson Davison takes medalist on cold, damp day with 71 and beats 99 other players by 4 shots.......WOW. Alex medals also with 75, Matt shoots 79 to lead the team to a 313 score and a 2nd place finish again and their 7th trophy of the year....Tren has 88 and Scott 91 for other scores. Mount Pleasant was first with 305 and Grandville had 320.
9/12 - GRANDVILLE/JENISON @ NORTH KENT 2 - 1
A much needed victory for the Rams over Grandville but it wasn't easy. Grandville goes 32, 35, 38, 40, 42 for 145 with a tiebreak 42. The Rams go Alex, Jackson, Matt 36 - Trent 37 - Sam 39 for 145 but the 39 secures the victory for our boys. The importance of the fifth score determined this match. Jenison shoots 165 and the Rams go 2 - 1 in the conference
9/13 - FOREST HILLS CENTRAL INVITE @ MEADOWS - 328 - 7th
Think all the hard work and the effort put in for Thursday affected our play on Friday. We shot 328 for 7th - Mount Pleasant won with 310, Hudsonville 311 and FHC 312. The Davison's led the team with 81, Sam and Alex went 83 and Matt 84.
9/19 - GRAND HAVEN, HOLLAND @ CLEARBROOK 4 - 1
The Rams move to 4 - 1 in the league with two victories. Their score of 156 outdistanced GH by 18 strokes and Holland had 178. Freshman Trent shot 36, hitting 2 greens and having 11 putts. Alex shot 39 in the rain which punished all the players. Jackson had 40 while Sam and Adam had 41. The players were blessed with new umbrellas and stocking hats outfitted with Ram logos to help with the inclement weather - thanks to Creative Concepts in downtown Rockford....

The Rams lost a squeaker by 1 stroke 156 - 157 and EK 165 on Tuesday. Scott led with 38, Alex and Matt 39's and Sam 41 but it wasn't enough as an eagle and a 40 foot putt on the impossible ninth hole did the Rams in. This leads to the postseason on Monday at Thornapple Point on Monday at 1:30 in which the league championship is up for grabs....go Rams...
10/2 POSTSEASON @ THORNAPPLE POINT - 314 - 1st
Tournament delayed till 2:30 - 5 groups did not finish at 7:30 - will finish at 4:30 on Tuesday to decide the championship and OK Red standings....Rams have scores in of FANTASTIC 76 by freshman Sam Gallup (5th man), TREMENDOUS 77 by junior Scott Peceny (6th man) and SOLID 82 by freshman Trent Davison (4th man)........Alex plays 2 holes ON TUESDAY and shoots 79 for team total of 314 and the WIN...Grandville 317, Hudsonville 319, EK 321 was a very close match by these teams...Rams overtake Hudsonville's .5 lead and finish first in the conference the first since 1998....OK RED CHAMPIONS........
10/5 DISTRICT @ CLEARBROOK - 316 - 2nd
Boys finish 2nd with 316 to Mona 314, Hudsonville 324, FHC 326, Grville 327 and EK 331. 13 teams in the field with these 6 moving on to regionals. Alex shoots 76, Jackson 78, Trent and Matt 81's to lead the team. "Didn't look like we were going to be less than 325 by the looks of it - but the boys surprise coach again and hang in there and get the job done" We have had a great time this year - one more step to the big house.......
10/16 REGIONALS @ L E KAUFMAN - 328 - 8th
ON A COLD AND MISTY DAY WITH THE TEES BACK THE RAMS AND VERY INTENSE PLAY BY ALL PARTICIPANTS GO OVER 320 FOR ONLY THE 3RD TIME ALL YEAR AND MISS STATES BY 6 SHOTS - A FEW TO MANY 7'S AND 3 PUTTS KEEP RAMS FROM THE BIG HOUSE ON THE WEEKEND - MATT GOES 81, ALEX AND JACKSON 82 AND TRENT 83 FOR 328 AND 8TH PLACE. CONGRATS TO GRANDVILLE, PORTAGE CENTRAL AND FOREST HILLS CENTRAL.
DISAPPOINTING BUT WHAT A GREAT YEAR WHEN YOU REFLECT ON ALL THE LOW SCORES AND GREAT TIMES WE HAD. COMMARADARIE LIKE THE EUROPEANS, LOTS OF DEPTH, SOPHOMORES AND FRESHMAN PLAYING REGULARLY, LOSING AS A TEAM WHEN WE DID LIKE THE AMERICANS - ALL IN ALL IT WAS A GREAT YEAR AND WE WALK AWAY
