One can reasonably argue that France doesn't "owe us" eternal allegiance on all political issues, but one thing is clear: thousands of Americans lost their lives in the defense of France. At the very least, France owes us their respect. More than that, Americans expect France to stand by our side when we're under attack. It is both astonishing and outrageous to Americans to find France actively working to thwart our effort to defend ourselves. Perhaps France would view this issue differently if the Eiffel Tower came crashing down into the streets of Paris as the result of a terrorist attack! What France fails to understand is that peace cannot be achieved by accommodating dictators and terrorists- peace is achieved by defeating them!
