A.C. DeCesare, 71, of Johnston Rhode Island, lost his battle with cancer not
long ago Anthony (Tony), was a former member of the board of directors of the
Rhode Island Racing Pigeon Club. Tony had flown pigeons since 1946 after
serving in the Army in the Korean War, Tony was also a member of the Fall River
Racing Pigeon Club. Tony had great knowledge of filing homing pigeons and
passed his knowledge on to his sons, Anthony Jr., Ronnie and Paul. Paul, to this
day, still flies and is currently a member of the Rhode Island Club. Tony's
sons Anthony Jr. and Ronnie, no longer fly.
In his days at the Rhode Island Club. Tony had won the 300 mile SNE Combine
in 1992, and Big All-American Award. In 1998, he placed 1st in the SNE Auction
Race and won Outstanding Performance Award for the SNE Combine. Tony and his
son Paul had won their share of races and placed in the top 50 in many other
races. Tony's foundation cock and hens are down from the Moris Shears and
William Geerts line of birds. Tony's belief was to obtain very good birds and
maintain good loft management. His plaques and awards are the result of his
fine efforts.
Besides his sons, Tony is survived by his lovely wife, Marie and his
daughters Diane and Maria. Tony will surely be missed by all members of the
Rhode Island and Fall River Racing Pigeon Clubs. Tony may you rest in peace
with all those great pigeon flyers. Your son Paul has done a fine job so far
and will continue to do so in your memory.
