A spiritual buffet for gay Catholics in Texas' capital city. Dignity Austin is a place for gay and lesbian Catholics and their friends to meet for Mass and share our lives in a variety of social, religious, and occasionally political activities.

Austin is the site for Dignity’s 2007 national convention, to be held on July 5-8, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Town Lake hotel. You may register for the convention at www.dignityusa.org.

What We Do

That depends on who you ask. Sometimes we just have fun, but developing spiritual lives and celebrating Mass, however, is a focal activity.

The Next Mass? When? Where?

Unfortunately, Dignity Austin does not provide weekly Masses now. When there is no Dignity Mass, members often attend Mass at St. Edward University’s Our Lady Queen of Peace chapel at 10:30am on Sundays or one of the masses at the University Catholic Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

St. Edward’s University is located on Woodward Street in south central Austin. You cannot miss the main building, which is on one of the highest spots in south Austin. The chapel is just northwest of the main building.

Who We Are

We're many different people.

Most of us are Roman Catholic and most of us are gay or lesbian, and all of us see no contradiction in being both. We believe that God created all persons in love, and many of us believe that being gay is a special spiritual calling. We find Dignity to be a place for worship, for socializing with others like ourselves, and for visiting with our Creator.

Dignity is sometimes political, usually social, and almost always spiritual.
