About Us

If you’re considering inviting one or more of us to come & live with you, then we believe that it is only fair that you get some idea of what you’re letting yourselves in for!

We’re hoping that this page will help you decide whether or not you truly want one of us & so will save us both from any heartache.

We’re not sedentary cats, we have tons of purrsonality & believe that we should be part of the family – you’ll be getting someone special & we need you to be special people too – so there’s some conditions right at the end – please scroll down to read them.

Curtain Climbing

*  it’s fun … but we are intelligent enough to know that we really shouldn’t

*  we will get down, if you ask us nicely & eventually we’ll stop altogether … probably

Fridge Clearance

*  you’ll need to ensure that you always close the fridge door properly – we have absolutely no will-power & a slightly opened door is just too powerful a temptation

*  however, it is a good way of ensuring that the fridge is regularly cleaned & that foods do not pass their sell-by dates

Cupboard Sorting

*  we do enjoy playing hide & seek

*  sometimes it is better for you to clear the cupboards out before we do it for you

*  we will, of course, supervise you as you clear up & look  suitably surprised at any mess

Rubbish & Bins

*  it’s always a pleasure to ensure that any empty cans are perfectly clean

*  don’t worry about forgetting, we’ll rescue any that you inadvertently put in the bin

*  we also find that they make good springboards - please try to ensure that they won’t topple over - of course, if they do, we’ll double check to make sure you haven’t thrown anything interesting away

Bathroom Etiquette

*  it’s our belief that you shouldn’t be alone, it’s not good for you, so we’ll always keep you company … sit on your lap or squeeze in behind you

*  we’ll ensure that we complain loudly should you inadvertently forget & shut us out

*  oh and we really don’t care what you look like so don’t get embarrassed if we stare when you’re in the shower

*  if you’re really lucky we may just join you

*  sometimes - just to help you out & cut down on your cleaning - we might use your loo instead of our litter tray

Waterbowls

*  we apologise if we occasionally over-turn our water bowl during fun games

*  but don’t worry, we can always try to drink out of the tap … or any dirty dishes left in the sink

*  we often clean the top of our water with our paws before drinking (you never know, there might be invisible leaves or flies on top)

*  it can be a useful storage area for anything that we might be playing with

Food & drink

*  we have been know to eat cake, biscuits, crisps & bread amongst other things

*  we will chew the occasional cucumber or banana

*  we love butter, spreads & mayonnaise – but you should be aware that these are not really good for us … although it may encourage you to clean the litter tray immediately after we use it

*  we quite like sharing your drinks – a nice cup of tea or glass of milk can be pleasant

*  as young kittens we like to talk as we eat … but of course this is terribly impolite & we do grow out of it as we get older

*  we do like eating & sometimes, just like a wild cat, will gorge till our bellies swell & then have to sleep it off

Playthings

*  don’t worry too much about providing expensive toys, we can find fun with the simplest things

*  pens & pencils are great as we can carry them around in our mouths & then hide them so that you never have to worry about the pesky things again

*  we like things suspended on pieces of string but do recommend you attach the string to a rod or stick of some sort as sometimes we can get a little over-enthusiastic as we jump to catch

Christmas

*  Christmas is fun – we’d like it more than once a year

* wrapping paper is great – we’ll help you both wrap & unwrap your presents, we’re so helpful

* we’ve not yet attempted to climb any Christmas trees but we might do this year

* baubles are a delight – did you know that if you hit them just right you can get them to fall to the floor, then you can run off with them – what joy

* unfortunately no-one has yet spotted Father Christmas, though we have looked

Toilet Rolls & Kitchen Rolls

*  sometimes, when the wind is right & the mood strikes, we have great fun making pretend snow

*  we can also make a delicate lacy pattern with either of these sorts of roll

*  we don’t really understand when you get cross & sigh a lot

*  we also like to lull you into a false sense of security & only play with these special toys every now & then – we believe that it keeps you on your toes & stimulated

Other Pets

*  we’ve only met a dog but we do love her

*  her tail is a fine toy & she’s perfect as a hot water bottle

*  sometimes we even get to sample her food

*  and Rico (he’s a snow Bengal neuter) even gets to go for walks with her sometimes

*  we’ll probably also like other pets, such as fish & rabbits, but we may need watching with them to ensure that we don’t get too enthusiastic

Computers

*  we don’t like to think of you being alone or lonely, so will tend to join you when you’re playing or working with the pc

*  we enjoy walking over the keyboard – preferably when it is most inconvenient

*  we believe that we are sometimes invisible & that the monitor is perfectly visible through our furry bodies

*  we enjoy walking over the keyboard

*  we know where the power & sleep buttons are

Personality & Looks

*  we are all unique & individual – we don’t all get up to all of the antics listed above – some of us will have other tricks to surprise & delight you (Zeb, who used to live here, has discovered that on stormy nights it’s fun to jump on his sleeping people)

*  some of us will want to sit on your lap, others will want to sit beside you but generally we all want to be with you, no matter what you are doing

*  so we might get a little unhappy if we are on our own, without another cat or even a dog to keep us company

*  but don’t worry, we do seem to be addictive, so you won’t mind, so much

*   we do learn not to do some irritating or naughty things – for example we don’t knead very much when sitting on your laps & we don’t climb trouser legs too often (though when we are small it’s sometimes hard to resist)

*   as kittens we go through a fuzzy stage where the true beauty of our coats is disguised but by about 18 months old our coat has reached it’s full beauty – we’re brighter coloured & our spots are much more distinct

*   our Bengal coats feel soft, plush & silky whereas our Serengeti coats are silky & smooth

*   our coats shine & sometimes we are glittered or dusted with gold

*   some of our faces look like they’ve been kissed with golden sunshine

*   you will want to touch us

Conditions

*  if we are poorly then take us to the vet … obviously, use your discretion but please do not let us suffer

*  be prepared for us to be sometimes naughty as well as nice – though I’m sure that we’ll adapt quickly to the rules in your household

*  please feed us, talk to us, pet us & play with us – we’ll all benefit from a loving relationship

*  please keep us free of fleas, worm us & make sure our vaccinations are up-to-date

*  if you plan on letting us out, please make sure that we are micro-chipped or wear a collar so that if we do get lost it won’t be for too long

*  please neuter us if we are not on the GCCF active register – we’ll be more fun to have around

*  if you decide that you don’t want us anymore – and ideally this should only be if circumstances change & not if we no longer match the décor – then please contact Lynn & she’ll offer advice & help

*  finally ENJOY US & let us be a valuable part of your family
