Variable rainbow is a 'process in progress'. It consists of an expanding series of old PC monitors eletronically modified to display bars of different coloured light of varying intensity. This is achieved by connection to audio equipment. The piece was conceived as an entity in a constant state of flux, with an ever-changing and infinitely adaptable nature, aesthetic appearance and configuration.
All materials used in its construction come from scrap. It is a collection which continues to grow with no defined limit, material is continually being added and will continue to be added as time goes on. Sometimes this process of addition and evolution occurs simply as a result of the desire to create, from a process of intiution and experimentation, or a flash of inspiration; or sometimes to suit more immediate or functional requirements (such as the incarnation adapted for the dia del niño event in june 2005). Similarly, in the STOP installation El Jardin del Paraiso, held in el Ojo Atomico April 2006, 7 monitors were adapted to display single colours to provide static multicoloured illumination in the form of a rainbow in a representation of a garden made entirely from waste materials. As such, each incarnation is not so much an 'artwork' but more a document of an ongoing and evolving process of creation and experimentation with this electronic material.
Being a piece which adapts to, and is influenced by, the circumstances of a given time and place (usually the venue of installation), the arrangement tends to be affected by the following:
i. available physical space.
ii. whim of artist
iii. practical considerations related to setup (mounting possibilities, available materials etc).
iv. Other factors such as regional influences, relation to some cultural event in the area, etc.
Depending on the type of radio static received in the venue of exhibition, or the sound fed to the monitors, the screens display a bar of rainbow coloured light of a different nature and intensity. The idea here being that the work interacts with, or reflects, the characteristics of the area in which it is placed, not only in terms of its physical shape as mentioned above but also the content in terms of what is displayed.
It has no conscious 'content' 'meaning' or 'message'.

Variable Rainbow (Arco iris variable) es 'un proceso en proceso'. Consiste en una serie de viejos monitores de PC que se han modificado electrónicamente para exhibir pequeñas formas en sus pantallas. Varios equipos de música alimentan los monitores para producir dichas formas. Se concibe la pieza como entidad en flujo constante que cambia de forma y con muchas combinaciones y características posibles.
Todos los materiales usados en su construcción provienen de la basura. La colección ha ido creciendo y continuará haciéndolo. A veces este proceso de evolución de la pieza ocurre simplemente por el deseo de crear y seguir desarrollándola, resultado de la intuición u experimentación o como resultado de un 'flash' repentino de inspiración. A veces responde a necesidades de carácter más inmediato o más 'funcionales' (tales como su materialización adaptada al evento del Día del Niño en junio de 2005). En la instal-accion STOP , que tuvo lugar en April 2006 en el Ojo Atomico se empleaban 7 monitores produciendo luces de varios colores del arco iris, como elemento con forma orgánica en un jardín creado con residuos.
Como tal, cada materialización no es tanto una pieza en sí, como el 'documento' del proceso del desarrollo de su creación y de la experimentación con este material electrónico. Dependiendo del tipo de señales estáticas y ondas parásitas de radio recibidas en el lugar de la exposición, las pantallas del monitor exhiben una barra de luz coloreada que varía con las señales de audio. La idea aquí es que la obra recíprocamente se alimente de y refleje las características del entorno en el cual se expone.
La pieza está constituida por una cantidad de monitores sin limite que se sujetan por si solos. Se montan de diversas maneras (vertical u horizontalmente). En estos momentos su colocación es
