Cooking Utensils: Choosing the appropriate cooking utensil is important in
assuring a satisfactory result with microwave cooking.
The utensil must be one that transmit energy so that all the
energy is directed into the food.
OvenProof Glass
Ovenware (treated for high intense heat) suh as utility dishes, pie plates, liquid measuring cups, casseroles and others without metallic decorations can be used in the microwave oven.
Glass
Glass other than ovenproof glassware should not be used to heat food for more than three minutes. It should have no metal trim.
Wood and Straw
Bread baskets, dooden spoons, cutting boards, etc., can be used in the microwave oven for short cooking periods. Longer periods will cause the wood to become hot and dry out. Do not use wooden cutting boards or wooden baskets with wire.
China
Bowls,cups,serving pieces,plates,platters,etc., can be used, rovided they do not have
metal decorations,metal screws or bands.
Plastic
Plastic wrap may be used to cover dishes and heat ood in the microwave oven.
Plastic dishes,cups,freezer containers,cooking bags, and plastic coated paper products can be used in the microwave oven. always use with care as some may become distorted from the heat of food with prolonged cooking times. they work best for shorter periods.
Paper
Paper towels, plates,napkins,waxed paper, waxed paper plated and cups may be
used in the microwave oven. Be careful of waxed paper as it may becomed distoreted from the heat of the food.
Metals
Metal utensils are not recommended.
