Gene Fedeli, a native of Rockford, Illinois has been involved with the Italian Community of Rockford through the Greater Rockford Italian American Association (GRIAA) and the Culture and Education Committee. He first learned the art of palm weaving at an Italian Folk Art Conference on the east coast. He has been weaving for many years. Returning to Rockford with the desire to continue his learning he attended workshops with European nuns and older European citizens that had mastered the art of palm weaving. He loves to work with his hands and has many hobbies that take him on this journey through life.
Gene Fedeli has presented numerous workshops throughout the Rockford and Chicago Dioceses in the last 10 years. He has presented workshops at: Our Lady of Good Council Parish in Aurora, St. Peter Cathedral in Rockford, Holy Family Church in Rockford, St. Joseph in Harvard, St.Florian, Felician Sister's Mother House in Chicago, St. Mary's in Byron and St. Peter Church in Geneva, Our Lady of Pompeii Shirine in Chicago, Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Melrose Park, St. Isidore in Bloomingdale, The Italian Cultural Center in Stone Park, Illinois and The Italian Cultural Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
