Study on Women with a History of Self-Cutting
If you have recently been cutting yourself, then it might be of interest
to you to have the opportunity to more fully articulate your experience and
be heard by someone who genuinely wants to understand your need to self-cut.
My name is Maria S. Flax, M.A. and I am conducting doctoral research at the
California Institute of Integral Studies in order to learn more about the
experiences of women before, during and after a self-cutting episode.
In talking with me about your experience of self-cutting, you might gain
a deeper understanding of what motivates you to self-cut so that you can find
alternative ways of coping. Your participation may also help therapists
learn more about self-cutting so that they can more effectively treat their
patients who self-cut. Should you choose to participate in this study, your
valuable contribution torward understanding more about women and self-cutting
will be greatly appreciated.
