free beading pattern
I found this pattern free and would love to share it with you.  This pattern has opened a door of beading for me.  I can just about bead anything now.  By using a ball chain, they make beautiful pull cords for ceiling fans.  The sky is the limit for colors.
My Pull Cords
I have found many places to show these off.  My 7 yr old loves them on her zipper pulls of jackets, denim dresses, and shirts.  (I have found out the hard way they do not live through the washer and dryer)  I clip mine to my button hole of my denim jacket.  The clip makes it easy for removal.
With the disaster of 9/11/01, I was inspired to make these as a different way to show your patriotism.  God bless our underpaid armed services.

Use  nylon beading thread and glass delicas beads. I used clear glass marbles bought from a discount store.  Choose at least 2 different colors of beads.  In pattern, A represents one color and B the other color.

1st round:  with beading needle, pick up 10 color A beads.  Make a circle by threading the needle back through these beads again.  Tie a knot using the tail.  Go through 4 more beads to hide the knot in the circle.
2) Pick up three beads, ABA, skip one bead  and go through next bead in row 1.  Continue until you have 5 points.  Weave back to the first section of row 2.  Come out of the point (middle) bead in that section.
3) Pick up 5 beads BBABB.  Go through the point bead in the second row.  Continue until you have five sections.  Weave back into the first section of row 3.  Come out of the point bead in that section.
4) Pick up 7 beads ABAAABA go through the next point bead in the third row.  Continue until you have five sections.  Weave back into the first section of row 4.  Come out of the point bead in that section.
5) Pick up 9 beads AABBBBBAA.  Go through the next point bead in row 4.  Continue until you have five sections.  Weave back into the first section of row 2.  Come out of the point bead in that section.
6) Pick up 5 beads BAAAB.  Go through the next point bead in row 5.  Continue until you have five sections.  Weave back into the first section of row 2. Come out of the point bead in that section.  This is the row you need to fit the marble into the netting.
7) Pick up one B bead, go through the next point bead.  Pull the thread tight after you have added the last B bead. Reinforce by going around the ten beads that make up row 7.

Weave back around to keep it beaded snug.  Coming out top,  bead 7 beads and a clip hook then into opposite side of where you came out.  Some I added beads to the bottom too.
For pull cords the first step you need to make is Chain 5 beads and form circle around bottom ball of ball chain.   3 A beads point to point. Then you will have the 10 A beads in round one.  Continue with pattern above.
