Small Purse instructions

Materials used
-2 inch Darice or Bucilla brand purse clasp
-size 10 any color cotton thread (doily thread)
-size 9 and 5 crochet hooks (metal)
-seed beads (I used beads found at Walmart sold in cylinders, create a craft brand)  but any seed bead or delicas will do.
-For fringe I used seed beads, size E beads, and bugle beads.
-medium size regular sewing needle and thread (eye small enough to go through holes on clasps and eye large enough to thread doily thread)
-larger blunt needle to stretch out first straight stitches around holes on clasp
-beading needle and thread

First I cut about 4 feet of cotton doily thread.  With needle and doily thread, pull half of thread through first hole on either side to start.  Straight stitch or weave thread in and out of holes around clasp.  When you get to the sides, switch to size 9 crochet hook, and chain 10 with hook.  After 10th chain, switch back to sewing needle continue up other side.
It will look like this.
You will go back and forth until all holes are filled with a straight stitch.  I used the tails remaining of the thread to make sure to have the straight stitches all the way around.  This gives it a neater appearance.
Now time to string the beads.  To do this might seem impossible, but with a bead needle and thread you can string the small beads to the string.  Like this.
Thread needle with short piece of thread.  Knot a very small knot in thread to form loop.  Insert inch and half or so of thread, and fold doily thread in half like in picture.  When you slide down from thread to doily thread, it will be a little snug but can be slid down.  To complete small purse, string about 230 beads directly to spool of doily thread before crocheting to straight stitches.
Rnd 1:  Join the bead loaded doily thread with sl st any side right before the ch 10's on sides.  Sc in each straight stitch around using as needed the blunt tip larger needle to stretch out each stitch.  This is the only round where you will be doing this.
Rnd 2 and 3:  Working in rounds, changing to size 5 hook, sc in each sc around.
Rnd 4:  Make sure in this round that you have the right side facing.  (If not, turn so that it is)  In Back loops only, *Sc, skip sc rep from * around but when you get to sides of clasp, do not skip sc's.
Rnd 5:  Turn, in both loops only, ch 1,* sc, sc with bead, Rep * around.  For this round I did not crochet beads all the way around, I centered 9 beads on both sides.  See pictures.
