You then needle back thru second bead, pull thread taut. String one bead, needle thru same stitch as before, then needle up thru bead.
Now you should have three beads wide, notice the two stitches on top.
Each time you start a row, remember to string two beads for first stitch. String two beads, needle thru first stitch......
