Mothers Day is May 11th!
We here at Frog Pond Farm, as well as our rescuing partners at Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary, are anxiously preparing for our first HUGE rescue effort. Since slaughter has been banned inside our boarders, our horses are being forced to travel under horrible conditions to Mexico and Canada without the protection of the USDA and slaughtered for human consumption overseas. Our goal for this spring is to attend the Sugarcreek Livestock sale and pull ALL DRAFT HORSES from this sale. They will be brought back to our farm. Depending on their condition they will be seen by a vet and a determination will be made about the next step in their lives. Our hopes is to be able to rehab and place all of them! Should one or more not have that option they will spend a few days with love and a full belly before we assist them in crossing the rainbow bridge. They will be laid to rest here on our farm with the other family we have loved and lost. Those strong enough will start a new life! We are working toward the goal of $10,000 to cover the rescue, recovery(vet & farrier costs), nourishment(feed & hay) and evaluation of these fine animals. We came to our figures as follows:

Expected vet/farrier fees to cover for worming, 5 way vaccinations plus west nile, intranasal strangles, examinations, euthanasia as needed, trims or special care.

This amount will make sure we have the funds for all we hope to save and be able to properly handle their medical needs. We also get supplements thru Pennwoods and plan to use alot of weightbuilder after the winter as we expect also of very thing horses.
This is a huge undertaking and we would really like to pull this off and be fully prepared. We are in need of trucks/trailers to move from the salebarn to our farm, people interested in assisting on our farm with handling and grooming, someone to take photos so we can get horses listed for adoption once they go thru the 30 day QT period.
Please consider assisting us. We have started our fundraiser early so if you can even only afford to send $20 a month until our effort you will have provided enough funds to fully vet one horse. Thats huge!
