Roxi was rescued on 8.17.07 from Sugarcreek livestock auction with the help of Dawn and Janet who are FOB members.
Roxi was a large, well built Percheron mare. She had a sweet personality and a willing temperment. She was stoic and proud and her presence was sometimes overwhelming. She loved being snuggled even though as an Amish horse she shouldnt have. She moved in and owned the place and when she was placed she took the hearts of all who knew her. Little did we realize when she left for placement that would be the last memory we had of her. Learning of her passing was heartbreaking to us all. I can still remember the sound in Janets voice when I told her Roxi had crossed the Rainbow Bridge. It just broke my heart! She was gone...and we couldnt bring her back. The questions beat off my brain. How could such a strong and proud horse pass so suddenly. Why had we not just allowed her to live her life here. She was suppose to live a long and healthy life caring for and teaching the children and visitors of Camp Carl. She was suppose to enjoy trail rides and grooming sessions. Receive loads of kisses and share the secrets of the children who would come to love her as we did. Why would she be allowed to leave us this way when we worked so hard to save her life??!!
She was a horse that truely touched our souls.
She is now OUR ANGEL!
May you rest in peace Roxi...run hard in heaven with Jack and all the others who had passed before you and since you. Please protect your brothers and sisters who are awaiting our rescue or who didnt get the chance to know what love and being safe was. Give peace to those who are sent to slaughter; protect their souls in transport and lessen their fears as they stand in line hearing their travel buddies die before them. Lighten the scent of death and meet them at the Rainbow Bridge and PLEASE explain to them our sorrow for being unable to provide them life and security.
Thank you for being a part of our life if only for a short time.
WE TRUELY AND DEEPLY MISS YOU MY FRIEND!
