ALL ABOUT HORMONES, PART 1

TO HORMONE OR NOT TO HORMONE
At a certain point in the life of every transsexual and some crossdressers comes the question of whether to try taking estrogen and other female hormones. I'm not a doctor, but I am a girl who has taken these hormones in several of their forms, and talked to girls who have tried them in other forms (and who writes and edits science and psychology books). What follows, therefore, is merely intended as general guidelines that might help you make better informed decisions about whether -- and which -- forms you should take female hormones in.
Many, crossdressers will never even feel the urge to take hormones. They consider themselves heterosexual men who merely dress up like women for a sexual thrill or to express their female side.
But some crossdressers  have strong urges of one kind or another to go beyond crossdressing and see what life would be like if they developed a woman's body (at least above the waist) through taking female hormones. Transsexuals of course know from a very early age that they are women unfairly trapped in a male body  and want to change their outward self to match their inner self.
If you belong in the latter two groups, you might well benefit from taking estrogen in one or another of its forms. If nothing else, the experience should help you determined whether pursuing this particular feminine path is something you could benefit from following further; or whether you might obtain greater fulfillment by exploring some other aspect of your femininity.
OVER-THE-COUNTER AND PRESCRIPTION HORMONES
The physiological and emotional effects of estrogen and allied hormones on the male body and psyche are well known. Just as women given testosterone and other male hormones become more aggressive, horny, begin to develop coarse body hair and experience shrinkage of breast tissue; so men who take the estrogens begin to develop the adipose tissue at hips, calves, etc. that gives women their shape, along with breasts (even to lactation), increased emotionality and a decreased sex drive.
All estrogens will produce these affects. But different ways of taking these hormones and the different forms they come in, affect the body in different ways -- and with different strengths. One good rule of thumb is the stronger and more potent the form, the stronger the result.
Until recently female hormones have been the product of medical science and available only to those men diagnosed by psychotherapists and under a doctor's care via prescription. This limited access to them to those living in big cities were the few endocrinologists (specialists in the hormonal systems) willing to prescribe female hormones to men undergoing gender reassignment or who felt they wanted to try estrogens to satisfy their curiosity about how far they should go with their gender bending activities.
Recently however, several naturally occurring forms of estrogen and other female hormones have become available in over-the-counter form in this country. These preparations usually contain either plant or animal extracts or both. A number of plants stimulate a woman's (and therefore a man's) natural production of estrogen; while others contain estrogen-like substances; and still others inhibit the manufacture of testosterone. Preparations using animal extracts actually contusion estrogen itself; the contents can sound pretty ucky to a girl with a delicate stomach (they are compounded of raw mammary uterine matter from dead cows and such) -- but the medical forms of estrogen doctor's prescribe come from mare's urine! (Many nagazines, including Transformation offer a number of these products for sale via the mail, and this can be a very handy for someone seeking a discrete way to acquire them or who lives far from a major city where hormones might be acquired through some other method.)
The kinds of estrogen doctors dispense "by prescription only" are, technically stronger. But it must be remembered that chemicals affect different girls very differently. Some girls can experience breast growth, skin changes and intensified emotionality from taking over-the-counter preparations; while others have trouble developing breasts, etc. even on megadoses of clinical estrogen therapy.
My best advice if you are a crossdresser is to start with the over-the-counter hormones. They are gentler, and allow you to determine whether you like the more feminized you. If you like it (some do and some find just dressing up is enough, after all) or if you are a transsexual,  you will want to  go farther, and considering taking the prescription strength doses available to those undergoing gender reassignment.
ESTROGEN AND OTHERS
Estrogen isn't the only female hormone (surprise!), a woman's body produces several other types as well, among them progesterone. Although, most physicians usually prescribe estrogen by itself, some feel adding progesterone speeds the transformation from male to female tremendously.
Progesterone enhances the development of breasts, curves and a womanly style of emotional response. It also almost always lowers male sex drive to female levels. (If taken via injection, men used to frequent erections or sexual fantasies will discover both absent from their lives following each dose -- but think of all the time it will free up, and besides you can let hornier partners come on to a reluctant you, just like a real woman. Besides, if you truly want to be a woman, low libido goes with the territory.)
Most girls I know prefer their estrogen mixed with progesterone. Not only does it give one a far more "female" feel, but the all important physical results become apparent far more quickly. However, some doctors are reluctant to prescribe progesterone because it makes some women feel more depressed, and if a girl's life situation at the times is at all rocky, this can heighten the emotional impact.
(In the next column, we will discuss the four ways of taking estrogen -- shots, pills, patches and pellets, as well as the pluses and minuses of natural versus synthetic hormones.)
FORCED FEMINIZATION TURN YOU ON?

"The body of the novel lies in the male protagonist's response to biological and physical constraints and the transformation of his personality forced upon him by his female body.

genuine insights."

SHE WAS THE FIRST WOMAN HE HAD EVER BEEN!

Andre Fuller had been convicted of the brutal rape-murder of a young woman and was awaiting the sentence of death. But, this was tomorrow and concepts had changed. A human life was too valuable to throw away in a futile gesture of revenge. Rather Andre learned he must replace the life he had taken. He had to become the woman he killed in a bizarre totally terrifying new approach to capital punishment.
Daringly provocative, and boldly unique, Season of the Witch is a brilliant speculative novel of sexual transformation depicting, with force and compassion, the emotional struggle of a man’s psyche buried in the body of a woman, and the gradual, agonized emergence of a female psyche to dominate and replace its nemesis.

Do these themes ring your chimes: forced to wear panties, dress like a little girl, be a maid, don diapers, wear penile chastity devices, submit to b&d, sexually service dominent women and/or men, into a submissive relationship with a hot butch or femme?
