Sept 1 -- University School v. Chagrin Falls 5:0 (4:0)
Summary: The Tigers lost to a strong University School team 5:0! University School scored its first goal four minutes into the game and managed to find the net three more times during the first half. The Chagrin Junior Varsity team lost to University by the score of 4:1 (1:1).

Sept 8 -- Chagrin Falls v. Rocky River 1:1 (0:0)
Summary: Chagrin surprised a strong River team by tying them 1:1. The Tigers played outstanding for about 60 minutes in a game interrupted three times by thunderstorms. The Tiger goal was scored by Ben Preyss, assisted by Adam Kerlek. Dan Podor and a Rocky River player received rather harsh red cards and they will have to sit out the next two games. Congratulations to keeper Joe Reinart and defenders Scott Locurto and Tyler Exline for outstanding games. The Junior Varsity Tigers defeated Rocky River 3-1.

Sept 10 -- Hawken v. Chagrin Falls 6:0 (3:0)
Summary: The Tigers lost to a strong Hawken team by the score of 6:0! The Tigers were forced to play without Dan Podor who had to sit out because of a red card violation in the Rocky River game, and without Ryan Eshelman who is still injured. The JV Tigers also lost against Hawken, but only 1:0.

Sept 13 -- Chagrin Falls v. Lake Shore HS (Buffalo, NY) 5:0 (3:0)
Summary: The Tigers won their first game of the season by defeating Lake Shore 5:0. Goals for Chagrin were scored by Matt Hanculak (2), Evan Gerhardt, Brad Thalman, and Adam Kerlek. Dan Kastner (2), Evan Gerhardt/ Adam Kerlek, Ben Preyss, and Ryan Eshelman had the assists.This was the first time a Chagrin Falls HS soccer game had been played on a Sunday afternoon. The Tiger Junior Varsity played Sat, Sept 12 versus Strongsville and lost 1:0.

Sept 15 -- Chagrin Falls v. Kirtland 6:0 (4:0)
Summary: The Tigers won the first CVC game of the season by defeating Kirtland 6:0 at Harris Stadium in Chagrin Falls. Goals were scored by Evan Gerhardt (3), Adam Kerlek, Brett Blackburn and Joe Reinart. Ryan Eshelman, Dan Podor, and Scott Locurto had the assists.

Sept 17 -- Chagrin Falls v. Wickliffe 5:1 (3:0)
Summary: Chagrin Falls played an excellent game and defeated Wickliffe by the score of 5:1. Goals for Chagrin were scored by Matt Hanculak (2), Evan Gerhardt, Dan Podor, and Tyler Exline. Assists went to Adam Kerlek (2), Ryan Eshelman, and Tyler Exline. The Junior Varsity Tigers beat Wickliffe 3:0!

Sept 19 -- Cuyahoga Christian Academy v. Chagrin Falls 4:1 (2:1)
Summary: Day games and wide soccer fields translated into a loss for the third time this season as the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Cavaliers trounced the Chagrin Falls Tigers at the former home field by the score of 4:1. CVCA scored the first goal when a Cavalier forward was left unmarked standing infront of the Tiger goal. The Tigers made the score 1:1 when Ben Preyss after some fancy dribbling lofted the ball into the upper left hand cross from about 20 yards out. He was assisted by Adam Kerlek, who had his sixth assist of the season. The Cavaliers made it 2:1 when again one of their forward was left unmarked standing inside the box. The score remained 1:2 at the half. CVCA got their 3rd goal on a short corner when they found the Tiger defenders napping. CVCA took control of the game at this time and they made the score 4:1 without about 15 minutes left to play in the game. The Chagrin Junior Varsity tied CVCA 1:!.

Sept 24 -- Chagrin Falls v. Orange 0:0 (0:0)
Summary: The Tigers tied the favorite Orange Lion (6-0-4) and might have won hadn't it been for a supereffort by the Orange keeper. It was a great team effort by Chagrin who dominated most of the game but were unable to push the ball across the goal line. Orange is now the favorite to win the CVC. The JV Tigers defeated Orange 1:0.

Sept 28 -- West Geauga v. Chagrin Falls 1:1 (0:1)
Summary: The Tigers scored early when Ryan Eshelman made a run out of midfield, dribbled past three defenders and kicked the ball past the surprised West Geauga keeper. Ben Preyss had the assist. West Geauga's goal came with about 10 minutes remaining in the second half. Joe Reinart had another outstanding game in goal. Congratulations to all Tiger players for a great effort against a strong and agressive West Geauga team! The junior varsity team tied West Geauge 2:2.

October 1 -- Aurora v. Chagrin 0:1 (0:0)
Summary: Hanculak scored for Chagrin about halfway through the second half. Eshelman received the assist and Reinart had his fourth shutout. The junior varsity team defeated Aurora 2:O!

October 5 -- Chagrin v. Perry 3:1 (2:1)
Summary: Chagrin defeated a strong Perry team 3:1 on goals by Kerlek, Preyss, and Tyler Exline. Kerlek scored off a clear after a long throw-in by Scott Locurto. The Tigers second goal came when Evan Gerhardt found Adam Kerlek open on the right side of the box with a thru pass. Adam dribbled past two defenders and then served the ball hard across the six to the oncoming Ben Preyss who buried the ball for his third goal this season. Tyler's goal was a penalty kick and it came in the 65th minute of play. The penalty kick was awarded after a Perry player had intentially handled the ball in the penalty area. Congratulations to keeper, Joe Reinart, for another outstanding game. Two of the saves he made were sure goals. Congratulations also to sophomore Kip Kruse for making his first start for the Tigers! There was no junior varsity game. Chagrin's final CVC contest is this coming Thursday at 7 PM v. Newbury at Newbury.

Oct 8 -- Newbury v. Chagrin Falls 1:8 (0:3)
Summary: Chagrin ended the CVC season by defeating Newbury 8:1 at the latters homefield. Goals scorers for Chagrin were Evan Gerhardt, Adam Kerlek (2), Ryan Eshelman, Ben Preyss, Brett Blackburn (2), and Nick Barrie. Assists went to Ben Preyss (2), Adam Kerlek, Kip Kruse, Dan Podor, Nick Barrie, Brett Blackburn/Matt Laufik, and Ryan Eshelman. Joe Reinart played well in goal but lost the shutout when Dan Podor fouled a Newbury player in the box which resulted in a penalty kick. There was no junior varsity game. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TIGERS FOR WINNING A SHARE OF THE CVC CROWN!

Oct 10 -- Chagrin Falls v. Kenston 2:2 (1:0)
Summary -- The Tigers put forth a great effort and tied a strong Kenston team 2:2. Chagrin's first goal came on a counter attack when Ben Preyss found Adam Kerlek unmarked to the right side of the goal about 11 yards out. Adam took Preyss' pass and, although under great pressure by a defender and the Kenston keeper, one-touched the ball to the far post for the game's first score. Kenston tied the score midway through the second half during a scramble infront of the Chagrin goal. They scored the go-ahead goal about seven minutes later when a Kenston forward headed in a long cross coming from the right side. Chagrin tied the game with about twelve minutes left in the contest when Evan Gerhardt's corner kick found Matt Hanculak's head for the score. Congratulations Tigers for a well-played game against a very strong, agressive and fast Kenston team. The Kenston Junior Varsity defeated Chagrin 2:0!

October 13 -- Walsh Jesuit HS v. Chagrin Falls 3:0 (3:0)
Summary -- The Tigers played well and put forth a great effort but lost to Div I state soccer power Walsh Jesuit HS 3:0! Congratulations to Coach Kissner and Walsh Jesuit HS for their outstanding display of sportsmanship! GO WALSH! WIN THE DIV I STATE CROWN! The JV Tigers lost 5:0.

October 15 -- Chagrin Falls v. Beachwood 4:0 (1:0)
Summary -- The Tigers ended their regular season with a 4:0 win over visiting Beachwood HS. Tiger goals were scored by Ben Preyss (3) and Adam Kerlek. Ben's first goal was unassisted. He was assisted by Matt Hanculak, and Adam Kerlek on his other two goals. Ryan Eshelman received the assist for Adam Kerlek's goal. Joe Reinart had his 5th shutout! Congratulations to all Tiger soccer players for an excellent soccer season!

Oct 19 -- Aurora v. Chagrin Falls (Sectional Game) 0:2 (0:1)
Summary
-- The Tigers opened sectional play with a 2:0 win over Aurora at Aurora. Goals for Chagrin were scored by Evan Gerhardt on an assist by Ben Smith in the first half, and by Tyler Exline in the second half. Tyler's goal was a PK, called after Dan Podor who was making a run out of the back was fouled in the penalty box. Joe Reinart had his 6th shutout.

Oct 21 -- Chagrin Falls v. Waterloo 2:0 (1:0)
Summary:
The victory over Waterloo was Coach Gerhardt's 300th win as coach of the Chagrin Falls Tigers Soccer team! Goals for the Tigers were scored by Evan Gerhardt and Adam Kerlek. Evan's goal was unassisted as he took a free-kick just outside the penalty box and fired it through the wall for the Tigers first goal.The Tigers second goal came midway through the second half when Gerhardt found Ben Preyss in the penalty box who touched the ball to Kerlek who dribbled it a few steps and then powered it from close range through the Waterloo's keeper's hands into the goal. Congratulations to all Tigers for a well-played game. Joe Reinart had his 7th shutout. The Tigers next game, a district semi-final game, will be next Wednesday, October 28, against St. Thomas Aquinas, (15-0-3) and presently ranked 10th in Div 2 in the State, at 4:30 PM at the Community Park in Canton.

Oct 28 St. Thomas Aquinas v. Chagrin Falls 2:1 (2:1)
Summary
: The Tigers lost 2:1 to STA in district semis at Diamond fields in Canton. The Knights scored at the four minute mark when a midfielder chipped a 25 yard shot over the Chagrin keeper. STA scored the second goal after about 30 minutes of play. Chagrin's goal came on the following kick-off when Ryan Eshelman took the ball down the right side, centered it, and Adam Kerlek volleyed it into his right cross. Both teams had chances during the second half but the score remained 2:1. Congratulations to the Tigers for a fine season. Good luck to St. Thomas Aquinas in the district finals!
