Hello Boys and Girls,
My name is Aunt Lu and Welcome to my Web Page. I play swinette (ask me sometime) for that hot contra dance band,
"Aunt Lu & the Oakland County All-Stars". If you've ever had the enjoyment of dancing to our swingin' jigs and reels then You've been Lu'ed !
Let me tell you about the rest of those rascals who play in MY band; In the photo we have (l to r) Sharon Robinson - Dulcimer player extraordinaire; Fiddlin' Brad Battey - one of the best fiddlers Michigan has to offer (keep an eye on this boy - he's goin' places); Judi Morningstar - swingin' piano that'll set your toes to tappin'. And of course I'm on the far right (lovely neon blue eye shadow).
We've been jammin' for dances for over 10 years now and have played from Kentucky to Toronto. Recently we were featured at Kentucky Summer Dance School, at the Ann Arbor Dawn Dance and with one of our favorite Callers, Glen Morningstar, in Toronto at the wonderful St. George of the Martyr Contra Dance (one of our more memorable trips). In the summer of 98, we toured Europe, starting with a dance camp in Denmark. We were really excited about the prospect of "Dancing with the Danes" (hmmm sounds like a great tune title... While Brad continued onto Sweden, the rest of the Lu's took a Danish Sleeping Bus and continued onto Paree with 90 party, hardy Danes.
So far we appear on one cut the recording (Paint Creek Folklore Society's Sampler CD, "Fine Times at Lawnridge Hall") and we all appear on numerous recordings. If you need to reach me & don't have a computer (so how'd you get here?) email me at the following address (they monitor my phone calls since the incident with the foot ball team.)
