Three years ago, two Londoners - Jamie Catto, film maker and founding member of Faithless, and artist/producer Duncan Bridgeman - embarked upon a global journey that included Africa, India, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, US and UK, equipped only with laptop computers and a digital video camera. Their vision: to capture and share with others the unique fusion of sound, image and spoken word from some of the world's most influential artists and musicians such as Neneh Cherry, Michael Stipe, Dennis Hopper, Asha Bhosle, Kurt Vonnegut and Baaba Maal. The result of this journey? Twelve breathtaking songs and some extraordinary footage. 1 Giant Leap is a true multimedia project - a music recording, a video record of a journey, and an exploration of man's mythologies and basic truths.

YERBA BUENA and DJ Dolores + Orchestra Santa Massa
plus Globesonic, Undoproject and video from Havana Hip Hop Festival
Saturday May 10, 7pm
73rd Street Bandshell, 7275 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach
Yerba Buena is an Afrolatino supergroup formed by famed producer/keyboardist Andres Levin (Aterciopelados, Los Amigos Invisibles, much more), and featuring Cuban singer Xiomara Lougart. Levin formed the group (appearing in Miami as an 10-piece band) as a school (as in samba school, not high school!) to explore the Afro-side of Afrolatino music. They are making their Florida debut concert with this show. And, they are joined by an amazing group from Recife, Brazil: DJ Dolores and Orchestra Santa Massa. Dolores is a brilliant drum & bass producer who has made a splash in Brazil doing remixes, film soundtracks and more. He is joined by Orchestra Santa Massa, a five-piece group that plays forro, the party music from Northeastern Brazil. They record for Sterns Music, and are making their US debut.
Also making it a night, we feature Globesonic, a DJ collective from NY that travels the globe to make sure you get your groove on.
And Undoproject, an experimental video projection band. And video from the Havana Hip Hop festival.
Aftershow party featuring Globesonic at the Sandbar....
the summer shows will be announced soon. But mark down July 11 for Gotan Project... (info http://www.rhythmfoundation.com/gotan.html)
