Dear Wallflower Friends,
Now that we have entered 2003 and survived the holidaze, we are preparing for a whole new series of events, exhibitions and artistic programs for The Wallflower Gallery. Over the next couple of months, The Wallflower Gallery Inc. will formalize the relationship with Ploppy Palace Productions as this emerging entity becomes a funktional, legal corporation and launches a series of new programs for the art and business community. Throughout the last 4 years, Ploppy Palace Productions (P3) has been working behind the scenes to coordinate, promote and develop the various showcases with a supportive network of individuals who strive to offer more resources for The Wallflower Gallery and The Wallflower Gallery Artists’ Network. During the next couple of months, P3 will step up to the task of expanding the promotional format of the shows, offering new services to the artists and coordinating a series of product development options for the artists. In addition, there will be various outreach events at other locations that will expand the scope of cultural interaction through the art community - be sure to attend Ploppy Palace Productions’ event at Tobacco Road on Saturday, January 25th. We have 4 stages of music, dance, spoken word, theatre, live art and speakers coming together for a good cause - more information will follow through P3's newsletter.
Within the scheduling of the events, we are planning to enact a few changes to help support the goals of audience participation. Starting on Wednesday, January 29th, The Wallflower Gallery will be modifying the evening presentation schedule with the Reel Indie Films’ Edge Showcase starting at 7:00 p.m. (from 8:00 p.m.) and the Voice & Soul Showcase will be starting at 9:30 p.m. (from 10:30 p.m.). In addition, we will be reducing the admission from $8 to $5 on these presentations. Since The Wallflower Gallery started to promote independent films through the Reel Indie Film’s Edge Showcase, there have been a broad assortment of motion picture pieces featured that reflect a dynamic range of style and creative tones. These are pieces that will not be seen in mainstream corporate commercial outlets, but these film makers and actors deserve the exposure and recognition for their efforts as emerging artists. As part of the same notion, the Voice & Soul Showcase provides an expansive forum for spoken word artists to present a variety of pieces as featured readers. With this upcoming schedule adjustment, we are working to create a more constructive environment for distinctive artists to present their unique styles of innovative expression.
During the last couple of weeks, we have been working on a series of promotional hand outs to help extend the diversity that The Wallflower Gallery offers the South Florida Art Community and the public. With much thanks to Barbie and Jayne, we now have a quad-fold brochure that includes many of the different programs that are featured at The Wallflower Gallery including our Membership Campaign. In fact, the brochure has a removable panel with a Membership form for people to send in and become Members through the mail. In addition, we are in process of getting the promotional paper work for the R.A.M.P. (Recording Artist Music Program) Project as we continue to refine the system for full utilization. Within the R.A.M.P. Project we are developing an introduction hand out as well as a comprehensive breakdown of the various services and formats for recording. To supplement the paperwork, we have generated a Showcase listing with detailed descriptions of the various types of presentations. All of these materials are designed to assist in the public outreach and community education of The Wallflower Gallery’s services. If you would like to get more information about these services, please feel free to contact us to discuss the details.
