Yixing Orphanage Visit

We visited Yixing in November, 2003 to see how our little friends were enjoying their new cribs. They were all very engaging and we enjoyed making them laugh! Their caregivers were specially trained, uniformed young women, who were all very affectionate with the little ones. Yixing Orphanage is small, and houses about 20-25 babies, and a number of older children, many of whom have special needs. We visited the older, handicapped children, and they captured our hearts. They have various needs and we pledged to provide items that will enhance their living conditions. Needed immediately are ten beds for children who have outgrown their cribs. We would like to furnish a sound system so that bedridden children can listen to music. Together with the orphanage director and staff, we will plan a program for these children, many of whom are cognitively normal but who have orthopedic problems, blindness, paralysis, etc.
