Cross Tombstone

I always wanted to have a big Celtic cross for the graveyard. My first year I made one out of plywood, like the rest of my stones, but it lacked detail, and size.

This is a necklace that I bought a few years ago at a Ren faire. It's only about 3" tall, so I needed a way to blow it up. I tried using the necklace and projecting it on the wall, but it was still too small.

First step was to enlarge it as much as I could on a copy machine.

Next step was to buy a projector. (I think it is called an opaque projector). I projected the image of the cross onto a piece of foam board and traced it with a sharpie.

This is the cross cut out and details engraved with a Dremel. I went over it quick with some black paint to check out the details.
The next step is to add some layers to thicken it up and build a base. I am thinking us using plywood for the base to give it some weight.
