Recent NewsThe Ultimate BattleMar 28, 2000The battle grounds were picked, the teams were set. It was to be God vs. Satan in the hellish confines of Yankee Stadium. The game began, both looked impressive. Yankees and Red Sox were being mowed down relentlessly by two supernatural beings, one fighting for good, the other for evil. Late into the game it was an angel that stepped up to the plate. Trot Nixon stepped up with Jeff Frye on first and connected.for a homerun. Two runs scored, top of the ninth. The two and only runs scored in an amazing battle of good vs. evil. I was getting worried for a moment that evil might prevail, but Pedro came through. 9 IP, 0 ER, 9Ks in an amazing performance. Reluctantly I must admit that Satan was impressive also. He also went the distance 9 IP, 13 Ks, but the difference is Satan lost. I watched the game from begining to end and it was a classic. Great game, great win, good prevails, we can all live in peace. What I've missedFor the last three games Pedro has of course been phenominal. His greatest start of the season, however, turned into his first loss of the year. His last start he went the distance striking out 17 in 9 innings allowing only one run! Unfortunately the Red Sox bats provided him with absolutely zero offense. On the bright side, it is nice to know that the only way God can lose is if he gets 0 runs. He wins any other way. His loss does, of course, ruin his chances at a 35-0 season, but 34-1 is not out of the question. He is also on pace to get over 400 k's and his era of 1.22 is simply amazing considering how dominate the hitters have been in the last couple of years. An apologyI'd like to apologize to all the followers of Pedro out there. I have been a bad pope. I have not been posting any recent news about Pedro and I have barely been checking the pope's email. This will change however. I am going to be adding a few things to the site. A Pedro message board is on the way and a Pedro mailing list also. I'll email everyone that has ever gotten in contact with me about the site and talk to you guys to see what I can do to be a better pope. With school now over for the summer I will be able to devote more attention to my religious duties. Sorry for any innconvience my slacking may have caused.Bats are heating up - Pedro game #3Apr 15, 2000The Sox bats are finally begining to heat up. Carl Everett, a damn good offseason acquisition by the Sox is on fire, Brian Daubach is becoming a feared hitter, and Nomar is getting hits all over the place. To add to that the Red Sox pitching staff after Pedro has settled down. The Sox are now on their way to winning a whole lotta games. The bad news is Pedro had a real bad game today. He let up two runs, TWO!, and his ERA has skyrocketed to 1.24. Pedro also broke his streak of 10+ strikeout games. He only got 9 today. He did however get the win as the Sox scored 14 runs. Pedro's bad performance (which is still better than any other pitcher in baseball) was made up for by a stellar performance from the bats. Alexander got a triple, three runs, and two RBIs, Varitek got his first homer of the season, and the big bats (Nomar, Everett, and Daubach) went a combined 7-13 with 5 runs and 7 rbis. Pedro is now 3-0, still on pace to go 35-0 and the Sox are on their way to World Series 2000. Famous FollowersApr 11, 2000I was watching the Red Sox today and a commercial came on. This commercial was to promote Red Sox games on Fox and starring in it were Kerrigan's K-Men. The K Men are a group of guys that post Ks at Fenway for Pedro's starts. They have visited the Pedro site many a times and I just wanted to state how great it is to have such prestigeous people among Pedro's followers. Red Sox win #2, Pedro game #2Apr 10, 2000The Red Sox are not looking like the team that many predicted to win the World Series. After 6 games they have only two wins, both of them soley because of Pedro. In Pedro's second start he was just as impressive as his first. 7.1 IP 12 K 1 ER. Unfortuneately he broke his 32 inning without a run let up streak, but he did pitch very well to give the Sox their second, much needed victory. The rest of the Sox staff has been very unPedroesque, but Jimmy Williams has confidence that the other four will fall into place and put up some good outings. With the Red Sox offense finally coming alive (4 home runs in Sunday's game) the Sox should be able to turn it around. Although their chances at a 162-0 season are over there is still a chance for 158-4!!! Opening Day - Pedro's First GameApr 4, 2000Pedro's performance on opening day can be described in one word - Godly. Pedro's fastballs were zipping, his sliders were sliding, his change ups were...ummm...changing, and his oponents were baffled. 7 IP, 11 K, 2 H, 2 BB, 0 ER. Only 4 baserunners in 7 innings. Only two of them made it to second base. Is that because Pedro let them to second? No, it is because Jason Varitek had two passed balls. The Red Sox took the victory 2-0. The offense was a little less then impressive, but the pitching, led by Pedro's 7 innings and finished by Derrick Lowe, the saving angel, was fantastic. Every other word out of the announcers' mouth was a praise for Pedro. This is going to be a good year. The Red Sox are now on pace for baseball's first ever 162-0 season. Pedro is on pace for a 0.00 ERA, 385 K, and a 35-0 record! Of course it is only opening day so predictions such as that may be a little bold, but with God on your team, who knows what can happen. World Series FeverMarch 31, 2000It's not even April yet and the Red Sox fans already have high hopes of a World Series victory. Many are predicting the Sox to go all the way this year. Most years Peter Gammons and a hand full of hardcore Sox fans predict them to win the series. This year everybody is. Sports Illustrated had the Sox on their cover saying they would win the series. In the latest baseball weekly 2 out of 5 in a panel of experts picked the Sox to go all the way. How many picked the Yankees? Only one. Hopes are very high this year and with God leading the way very little can go wrong. The season is about to start in a mere 4 days and even after a dismal spring Red Sox hopes are high. The first oponent to fall to the mighty Red Sox will be the Seattle Mariners. That means Pedro's first game will be against a pitcher who isn't even in the same class as God. Jaimie Moyer, Aaron Sele, and Freddy Garcia are all posible starters. Sport's IllustratedMar 25, 2000The Red Sox are going to be winning the World Series this year. Who says that you ask? Only one of the world's most popular sports magazines. This month's Sports Illustrated predicted that the Red Sox will win the World Series in 2000. Even the professionals agree that the Sox will triumph. Now why did they go and say that you might be asking. Well they said they their main reason was because of one man. One man will lead the Sox to victory. In a team sport where 24 players combine to make up a team and all 24 must give it their all, SI says that ONE man will help the Sox win it all. That man is none other than God himself, Pedro Martinez. Pedro is on the cover of this months SI. You can bet your arse I will be picking up a copy. Any magazine that has the amazing foresight to see that the Red Sox will be standing victorious in October is definately a magazine I need to pick up. Perfect GameMar 15, 2000God found his grove in a very impressive game yesterday. He pitched 3 perfect innings with 6 strikeouts to start off a perfect game for the Red Sox. Five Red Sox pitchers combined for the perfect game against the Blue Jays. 27 came up to the plate and 27 sat right back down. Pedro was very impressive in his three innings of work. God Hath ArrivedFeb 23, 2000 God arrived to spring training today. He was two days late, but he's God, he can do what he wants. He had a few personal things to take care of. Let's view some of Pedro's words he said during the interview after he arrived. "I want to be modest about this, but they love me here. Everybody loves me."-referring to the fans in Florida and then to everybody "I know how to work. I'm not stupid. I'm not in the big leagues just because I'm cute"-referring to his offseason work routine "I feel really strong. My arm is in good shape. I'm throwing the ball hard with no effort"-It's gonna be a good year for the Sox :-) |
