WELCOME TO
THE
TARZAN'S RIVALS PAGE
Polaris, of the Snows, was raised amid the frigid wastes of the northern icepacks.
To the right is a reprint edition.
Tarzan was launched in the pages of All-Story magazine and its sister publication, Argosy.
Readers went ape for the apeman, wanting new adventures every week.
Since Burroughs couldn't keep up with the demand, All-Story and other magazines urged writers to develop their own "noble savage" characters.
Here are magazine covers featuring some of the most famous of Tarzan's many rivals.
Castaway among apes on a deserted island, a young boy learns to speak their language and becomes their king.
Magazine reprint of the novel also known as Caspa the Lion Man, starring Buster Crabb.

Kwa, King of the Apes

Tam, Son of the Tiger

Kioga of the Unknown Land

Jan, of the Jungle

Bomba, Jungle Boy

& more!
Ki-Gor rated his own magazine, where various authors chronicled his adventures via a "complete novel" every month. His mate, Helene's charms were featured on the cover as often as his brawn. He swings to the rescue in the background here.
