Frederick Mayberry, Sr.
Frederick Mayberry, Sr.
1 - Frederick Mayberry was born, according to tradition, about 1730 in Wurtemberg, Germany. He is also said to have come to New Jersey about 1750 and to have lived near Chambersburg, Pennsylvania before moving his family to Bedford County, Virginia. It has often been stated simply that his wife was Barbara Nalls. However, the fact that Barbara Nalls was born in Bedford County, Virginia about 1734, means that she was almost certainly his second wife. It seems likely that his first wife was Catherine Schleicher1 who apparently died before Frederick moved his family to Virginia. His marriage to Barbara Nalls thus probably took place in or near Bedford County where Frederick lived until his death. On 31 July 1801 Frederick Mayberry wrote his will in which he describes himself as, "feeling very ill and weak in body". That he died a short time later is shown by the fact that his will was proved in court by the witnesses on October 26th of the same year. His wife, Barbara Nalls Mayberry, died about 1811, also in Bedford County2.

(The last letter I received from her stated they were moving to Troy, Illinois.  She never sent me a new address).  She stated that the names of the parent's of Frederick Mayberry are from data in possession of Helen Gardner Lund of Nevada (no address given) and records of Margaret Blanche Mayberry (dec) in possession of Mrs. Samuel Fletcher 625 E. 1st St., Mesa, Arizona.
