I cannot locate Thomas Mayberry see subject above. He was living with his grandparents on the 1850 Census of Romney, Hampshire County, Virginia (WV), with two of his sisters since their mother had died prior to the Census, the family was scattered out living with various family members. Thomas' grandparents were Peter Hass/Haas and wife Mary Baer Hass of that county. Local history reflects that the town of "Romney" changed controlling sides fifty-six times during the Civil War.
Apparently, Thomas Mayberry had departed prior to the hostilities. There was a Thomas Mayberry age 30, Born in Va. listed as living in the household of Mrs. Marion McMurtrey and her three children named as follows: Mary A. age 16 born in MO., James C. age 12, born in MO. Boone, age 6, born in MO, and lastly Thomas Mayberry age 30, born in Va. The Mo. 1860 Census was enumerated 13 July 1860, Dwelling No. 1360, Family home number 1412. The head of household was Marion McMurtrey age 34, Female born in Missouri. Census was 1860 Census of Jackson County, Missouri. I have been searching for about 10 years and haven't found a single lead except this entry on the 1860 Census of Jackson Co., MO. in Kansas City. I'm not too sure it is the same person but the information is correct, as far as time and place of birth which makes me think it is he.
I am still searching for Thomas Mayberry - No hits on the Jackson Co., Mo.
