Day11,
On our schedule today was a stop at a sugar cane farm in Mackay and a crocodile farm in Kuranda. After we left the gorgeous South Molle Island we got back on to our coach and made ore way to the center of the Australian sugarcane industry, Mackay. There we went on a tour of a sugarcane farm and shown how the cane is harvested. While on our tour we were also given some of the delicious cane to chew on. Once we were finished lunch was provided as we watched a video on sugar cane production. Afterward we thanked our hosts and went to our next stop, the crocodile farm.
This farm also had a unique touring method. Between each course of our dinner there we were taken out to see some part of the farm. During a four course meal, which included aligator chowder, we were shown the sites. These include a variety of crocodiles, crocodile nests, and the chance to hold a baby crocodile. It was fascinaqting and among other things I learned that crocodile tastes a lot like chicken.
