Day 20,
Today was our final day in Australia. We had one last activity beforewe
left, which was to visit the current Olympic site. We were reallly
excited and
couldn'twait to see everything. The first thing we
saw when we got there was Stadium Australia. This is where all
track and field events and the opening ceremonies
were to be held.
We were probably some of the few people who would get to see
this place empty anytime soon. We not only got to see the stadium,
but we were allowed
to raise the American flag for them. After
raising it we got a group picture taken.
After that we went to see the Superdome. We were shown everything
including the locker rooms that players would use. The dome was
really huge and I could
just imagine how chaotic it would be when
it was filled. Our tour guide told us all the specifics like how many
people it could hold andall about the acoustics
it had. It was really
intertesting but we couldn't stay long because we had to go to the
airport.
As we arrived at the air port you could tell that everyone was sad
to be leaving. After checking or baggage we had to say goodbye
to our travel manager and
the delegation we had been traveling
with. There were more than a few tears shed as we boarded the
plane and headed home. We managed to make it through another
16 hour flight and several shorter ones as we returned home. Despite
the sadness at our trip ending we were excited to be home again
and see our parents.
After such an amazing trip it was definitely
a bittersweet ending.
