Sen Lorge ends Milk Pricing System

Filibuster worked, Farmers thrilled

"After two weeks of intense filibustering, Wisconsin's new US Senator ends what

Dairy Farmers called the most corrupt law ever on the books: "The Federal

Milk Pricing System" that penalized Midwest Dairy Farmers for 70 years"

Washington, DC - An exhausted yet triumphant US Senator Bill Lorge (R-Wisconsin)

embraces Dairy Farmers outside the US Capitol steps after ending his two week long filibuster

that finally ended the Federal Milk Pricing system. "This was my number one campaign

promise when I ran for US Senator. I promised that if I had to, I would Filibuster until I

dropped dead, thank God it only lasted two weeks and I'm still breathing, but we won, and I

kept my word," said Lorge.

"Government should NEVER have the power to harm Americans the way they did the

Midwest Dairy Farmers with the Federal Milk Pricing System. Now Wisconsin Farmers will

finally get a better price for their milk, instead of getting the lowest price. We saved our Dairy

Farms in Wisconsin. I want to thank all the Farmers from the Midwest, especially Wisconsin

and Minnesota, for getting on their Tractors the day my Filibuster started and headed for the

Nation's Capitol. If it wasn't for their support and seeing them up there in the Senate

Galleries, I dont know if I could have lasted, but we did it together. I said over a thousand

times during my US Senate Campaign in 2000, that I would not quit, I would end the Milk

Pricing System once and for all, I promised that I would filibuster to the end, and at the age

of 41, I was able to do it without any health risks or without alienating anyone because of my

interesting filibuster topics and sense of humor. I hope everyone enjoyed all the books I read,

and historic speeches I read during my filibuster. I tried to keep the filibuster dignified and

meaningful as well as entertaining. I think I did that. The Dairy Farmers in Wisconsin knew

that I would keep my word, and they are very pleased with the final results. This simple

change in Federal Law will do so much good for Wisconsin," concluded Lorge.
