The cast of "Miami Vice"
Martin Castillo is a former DEA agent who worked in Southeast Asia. He left that part of the world believing his wife had been killed. He moved to Miami and accepted a job as a lieutenant with the police department. He is assigned to head an undercover vice unit. His two lead detectives are Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) and Ricardo Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas).
"Duty and Honor" also reunites Castillo with someone from his past. A man with whom he worked in Vietnam appears in Miami right after a series of murders in Miami are similar to cases in Vietnam on which they worked together.
In "The Golden Triangle" episode, Castillo learns that his wife is alive and has been brought to Miami as a hostage by an old enemy from Southeast Asia. Castillo sees his former wife only to learn that she has remarried and has a son. Castillo is glad for her genuine happiness.
In "Bushido," Castillo learns that his oldest friend and former partner, Jack, is in Miami. He meets with his friend and is tricked by Jack into killing him. Castillo is devasted but must put aside his personal grief in order to protect Jack's wife and son from men who want to kill them.
Martin Castillo is always a serious minded, brooding man. Personal integrity and honor define who he is.
