My Owens Family

My maternal Grandmother was Nancy Elmira Owens (1875-1956), daughter of George Washington Owens (1847-1926) and Mary Jane Pemberton (born 1853).
George was a Baptist Minister.George was the son of Wesley Owens (1825-1913) and Caraline Adkins (1827-1913). Wesley and Caroline both died within a few hours of each other. Wesley passed away at 6:30 PM and Caraline the next morning at 7:00 AM. Wesley was blind at time of death.

Wesley was the son of William Owens (born 1801) and Jane West (born 1801).
Jane was the daughter of Charles P. West (1774-after 1860) and Sally Phillips ( 1781-after 1860). Jane was unable to read and write.
Charles was the son of Reuben West (1750-1809) and Jane Mathews (1755-1813).
After William Owens passed away Jane West Owens married Thomas Chambers, who was the owner of slaves at Buffalo, Tennessee. Jane and Thomas also had four children, which were half siblings to my Great Great Grandfather Wesley Owens.

Jane and Thomas are both buried in the Chambers Cemetery at Buffalo Creek, Tennessee. There were about twenty slaves owned by Thomas and they are also buried in the family plot of Thomas.
