What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, the devine life-giving force. It is a gental noninvasive, hands-on form of energy transfer. The hands of the Reiki practitioner are placed in specific patterns on the body while the client lies fully clothed on a bodywork table. The practitioner acts as a channel for the Universal Life Energy that flows through his/her hands into the body of the person being treated.
Reiki energy basically has five effects:

Treatments
There are a few different types of treatments offered: Typical, Special Focus, Mental/Emotional, Distance, and Emergency.
Typical -
A Typical Reiki treatment usually takes about one hour and focuses on the body as a whole. Hands are placed in various positions throughout the body and giving you an overall body/mind treatment. Reiki naturally flows to all the cells in the body and to where it is needed most.
Special Focus-
Special attention can be brought to any area in need. If there is a specific condition/area that needs some special help, a treatment can be done where the practitioner can focus on that area. For example, cronic backaches - a treatment can be done focusing soley on your back. This type of treatment can vary in time, a whole hour may not be necessary.
Mental/Emotional-
This type of treatment can be useful for helping with an addiction (smoking, alcohol, etc.) that the client consciencly wishes to resolve. Emotional problems can also be focused on (depression, anxiety, etc.). This type of treatment is usually done during the Typical treatment.
Distance-
Distance treatments are available where the client does not need to be present. This can be useful where there is a sick relative or loved on many miles away or an emergency situation where the practitioner can not be present.
Emergency-
Reiki can be very useful in emergency situations.
