All About (Clyde, Therapy Dog)
My name's Clyde. I'm a miniature poodle, with a beautiful silver coat which is always neatly groomed. I have had some obedience training, have a CGC and CD with the AKC, and am certified as a therapy dog with Pets on Wheels of Scottsdale, AZ. I'm one of 110-130 pets who visit nursing homes, hospitals, and homebound every week. We make the residents and patients happy and help them forget that they're not home with their families. We also visit cancer patients, developmentally challenged children, and a school for behaviorally challenged youth, as well as teach pet safety to school children.

My favorite activities are motoring, either to training class or to visit.
Besides my basic obedience exercises, I enjoy jumping thru a hoop, my owner's arms, or even his legs. I can race across the room and slam the kitchen door closed, on command. Also, when I'm told to "Say Hello!" I put my front paws on a nursing home resident's or hospital patient's knees, so he/she can see and pet me easily. And, of course, I can shake hands and roll over. I'm also good at obeying hand signals.

About Pets on Wheels
Over 425,000 times, one of our volunteers has walked up to a resident or patient and asked, "Would you like to see my dog? (sometimes cat)" They are always greeted with a smile and leave with a "Thanks." Our Founder, Neal Jennings, a retired civil engineer, has prepared a workbook, called, "A Pet-Visitation Therapy Program -- Starting One and Keep it Going." Call 602/735-6886, or e-mail to petsonwheels@aol.com to become one of our volunteers, or to get help in starting a program in your town. It's a rewarding volunteer effort, and your dog, or cat, will love it too. The residents and patients benefit, the volunteers benefit, and even the pet loves the chance to go visiting with its handler.
