About

Hello, I'm Jerry Pool, a retired electrician. I Retired due to a stroke that left my right hand extremely limited. I'll say I'm past retirement age, barely. My interest in astronomy started when my wife Nancy bought me a book titled "The World Treasury of Physics, Astronomy and Mathematics". Much of the material was way over my head but it did instill in me, a sense of awe about the night sky.

I knew there were galaxies besides our own Milky Way, constellations besides the ones of the Zodiac. What I didn't know is that thousands upon thousands of stars and galaxies, nebulae and the major planets can be seen through amateur telescopes and binoculars. I had a relatively hard time learning how to "read" the night sky. I am by no means an expert but there seems to be a short supply of internet sites directed to beginners. Sure, some say they are but much of their material is too complex. I have strived to present a clear way, through a few tutorials, to recognize seasonal constellation patterns, and how to use charts to find deep sky objects. I've included some easy to find targets to get you started so click a few of the above titles and get ready to enjoy a hobby that is sure to kindle a passion you would never have dreamed possible.

Regards,
Jerry
