ALUMNAE CHAPTER

ABOUT NNDGAC
Northern Nevada Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter
Thanks to the coordination and efforts of Nancy Copley-Tooley, NNDGAC was formed in September 1998 by six founding members living in the Reno/Carson area: Jennifer Bowker (Alpha Lambda), April Baxter (Beta Nu), Traci Pitts (Beta Gamma), Stephanie Rawson (Gamma Lambda), Joni Reeves (Alpha Upsilon), and Ann Wilkinson (Beta). The efforts of these founding members have anchored Delta Gamma in the "Biggest Little City in the World." In September 2001, members of NNDGAC colonized Delta Gamma's Eta Iota chapter at the University of Nevada-Reno. Local alumnae serve as advisors and friends to the members of the Eta Iota. NNDGAC is proud of Delta Gamma's success in the Sierras, and we invite all local DGs to share in the opportunities and experiences of continued sisterhood.

NEWSLETTER
Currently, there are 108 Delta Gamma Alumnae living in the Northern Nevada area (Reno/Sparks/Carson City/Lake Tahoe). On average, the Chapter consists of 30-plus dues-paying members. Our membership is diverse, as all current NNDGAC members pledged Delta Gamma at colleges and universities not located in Nevada. This diversity has greatly contributed to our growth as an alumnae chapter as well as the development of close personal frienships that have formed over the past 4 years. To maintain "chapter" status, NNDGAC is required to sponsor a minimum of 6 events per year and maintain a minimum of 20 dues-paying members. Members are always invited and encouraged to attend, but there is no minimum attendance required in order to join NNDGAC. Basic personal information regarding each member is maintained in a local database: name, home address, phone, e-mail address, school attended and year of initiation. NNDGAC publishes two newsletters a year for its members: one in the Winter (usually late January) and one in the Summer (usually mid-July). Dues-paying members receive both newsletters, invitations to events, and a copy of the annual roster of local members.

PROGRAMS
NNDGAC's programs vary from being purely social (family picnics and monthly lunches) to educational (guest speakers on aromatherapy, gemology, wine tasting) to philanthropic (Race for the Cure, foundation fundraiser events, collection of large print books and used eyeglasses). Please e-mail NNDGAC with any programming suggestions for future functions. Remember, we are here to serve you, so please share your interests and ideas.

FOUNDATION
In support of our philanthropic purpose of Service for Sight projects, NNDGAC participates in fundraisers and contributes service hours. Beginning in January 2003, and then every January thereafter, NNDGAC will decide how to disperse the monies raised in the previous year. Additionally, members of NNDGAC continue to collect large print books (donated to local visually impaired residents) and used eyeglasses (donated to Delta Gamma's "New Eyes for the Needy" program).

FINANCE
Membership dues for NNDGAC are currently $43 per year. Of this total amount, $17 is collected as per capita dues that are sent to Executive Offices. The remaining $26 is spent locally to cover the cost of mailings (newsletters and invitations), convention delegate registration, and occasional treats for the members of Eta Iota chapter. NNDGAC dues for 50-plus year members of Delta Gamma are currently $26 per year. For more information about joining NNDGAC, please contact us at the e-mail address below.

PANHELLENIC
Locally, NNDGAC supports the Reno City Panhellenic. Additionally, we serve to assist the Las Vegas Panhellenic organization. On campus, the members of Eta Iota also serve in positions for the collegiate Panhellenic organization.

NEWSLETTER
The Northern Nevada Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter newsletter is published twice a year (January and July) and informs members of upcoming events and recent happenings. Features include communications from the membership, dues information, membership rosters, calendar of events, foundation news and updates regarding the Eta Iota chapter.

ETA IOTA COLLEGIATE CHAPTER: UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA-RENO
In September 2001, just three short years after forming the local alumnae chapter, NNDGAC colonized Delta Gamma's Eta Iota collegiate chapter at the University of Nevada-Reno. On February 2, 2002, the Eta Iota chapter was installed, and 65 members were initiated. Currently, the chapter has 101 members/new members. More information about the Eta Iota chapter may be found on its web site at http://www.geocities.com/deltagammahi

The members of NNDGAC serve as advisors to officers and directors of Eta Iota, and also serve as members of the Eta Iota House Corporation. Thanks to the incredible dedication of the House Corp, Eta Iota purchased a chapter house on June 27, 2002, which is located at 52 West 9th Street (directly across from the Pi Phi house on Sierra Street). The past summer was spent renovating the property and preparing for Fall '02 formal recruitment. Eta Iota pledged quota (32 new members) in Fall 02 recruitment. We are thrilled with Eta Iota's immediate success at the University of Nevada-Reno, and we are extremely enthusiastic about the growth of NNDGAC in the years to come.
