Objective: To promote German American pride within the New York City Police Department

We are an organization representing uniformed members of the New York City Police Department who are of German or Austrian heritage. Members of the Department voluntarily join our organization to enhance and celebrate their Germanic heritage. The organization conducts a number of events during the year including an Oktoberfest celebration, golf outing, a Family Christmas party, monthly general membership meetings, and other social gatherings to celebrate our heritage. Our current President, Lieutenant Arthur Hall, is presently assigned as the Integrity Control Officer for Detective Borough Queens. Our organization is overseen by a Board of Officers comprised of active members of the Department, three retired members representatives, and members who have previously served the organization in the position of President. The organization provides for High School and College scholarships for children and Grandchildren of our members based on highest scores achieved during a testing process.

We are associated with The Grand Council of Steubens in Civil Service, Inc., which include Police and Fire Department Steuben Associations from FDNY, Port Authority PD, Nassau County PD, Suffolk County PD, Rockland County Police, and NYS Court Officers. We are also part of the Committee of Police Societies, NYPD (COPS), this group includes all ethnic, religious, and fraternal associations within the NYPD. In addition, we have contact with, and socialize with, members of the Philadelphia Police IGAPA (International German American Police Association), and the Chicago Police Department's, GAPA (German American Police Association). The name of our Association is given in honor of General Baron Frederich Wilhelm von Steuben, a Prussian General who came to the colonies and greatly assisted George Washington in achieving victory during the American Revolution.

Each year we participate in the German- American Steuben Parade , the Grand Council leads the first division of the parade and each entity in the Grand Council takes turns annually in a rotation of being the first group up 5th Avenue in the parade.
